Am I under spined ?
I am shooting a vectrix 60# 28" carbon express max hunter 350. the total arrow weight is 397gr.(100 gr tip). My question is, am I under/overspined .

RE: Am I under spined ?
If you are saying your DL is 28" also then you are way overspined Even at 70#'s the 350 is overspined. Even if you have a 30" DL the arrow is overspined.

RE: Am I under spined ?
Draw length is 28 1/2",see the signature.;)

RE: Am I under spined ?
Still way overspined.

RE: Am I under spined ?
You are probably overspined and you could shoot a heavier broadhead which would help some. You did'nt mention if your bow was tuned and shooting good holes through the paper if so then I would'nt worry about it much it's better to be ovespined than under.

RE: Am I under spined ?
I measured the arrow it is 28". I was told the actual DL is 28 1/2 but I was also told that that was thw right arrow Spin for the weight ect. I am in need of a reliable PRO SHOP In the quaker town area.
What is the correct arrow I should be shooting I dont mind compromizing speed for knock down power. HELP ! I wish I knew more this is getting expensive |
RE: Am I under spined ?
it was good thru paper

RE: Am I under spined ?
If you don't mind giving up some speed then shoot a 125gr broadgead or fieldtip, but you still need to make sure it shots through paper well with the 125s.

RE: Am I under spined ?
I don't think that spine is AS big a concern with carbon arrows as it was/is with aluminum arrows. Charts, are infact, little more than guides. The whole, if you are close to the heavier spined arrow go with it stuff is just to protect arrow companies from liability. Not entirely unlike MAX reloading recipies (which keep getting lower every year, while actions keep getting stonger and lawsuits get more and more frivolous), its all to protect whoever is making the chart/arrow.
The spines on most carbons are fairly inconsistant, all things considered. So you shouldn't tell too terribly much of a difference, but if you are getting a stiff tear, then put a couple washers on the front, or amp up your tip weight some. Might even have to increase draw weight a pound or two...or just get some ACCs....because they hit like a hammer! |
RE: Am I under spined ?
I shoot a 60.7 lb. Hoyt bow and use both 28" and 29"arrows. 100 gr. points. In the Easton line of arrows, the 400 series are about perfect. I tried some 340 series awhile back and, even with 125 gr. heads, they were showing signs of being too stiff. Charts show I would need to get up to at least 65 lbs. to need a 340 series arrow - or go to a 30" or 31" arrow.
