Mathews Outback purchase

I am a current owner of a Mathews Outback. Some of my friends own the Switchback and the XT.

One of my friends said he would sell me his Outback, fully equiped, arrows, case, etc. for $350. I was thinking about picking it up for my son. I know that is a good price.

I would like to pick up another Mathews but didn't know if I should buy a newer Mathews and give my son the Outback. Buy the other Outback and we'd both have one?

Is the Switchback THAT much nicer than the Outback? I know it is nicer but money is a factor. I could also look for a good used Switchback or good used XT. What's a fair price for a good used equiped Switchback or XT? I would like to but can't afford the newest Mathews. Too many variables to thinkabout.

I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!!

all mathews bows are great. If money is a issue then you can only make the choice of purchasing. I'm not sure what a used XT goes for, but here in NJ I know of a shop that sells them brand new for $650 for the bow only

Have you shot the Outback and the Switchback? Is there a big difference? Thanks!

I never shot the Outback, I own the XT and love it, as I love my Zmax

I am only 5.5" and 130lbs and prefer smaller lighter bows and even though I have shot the switchback and liked it I prefer the outback because it is smaller and lighter feeling for me.

I had an Outback, switched to the XT. Both are great bows, but deep down I wish I kept my Outback.

Mathews bows hold thier value more than any other so don't be surprised to see used XT or Switchbacks selling bare bow for @ $500.00. They would give you about 15 fps over the Outback. That deal on the fully loaded Outback is excellent.

The switchback is a lot nicer shooting bow than the outback is. I have an outback and a good buddy of mine has a switchback and it is a very nice, smooth shooting bow. I would also go with the Switchback (money permitting) because it is the newer model and when you decide to sell it later you may get more money back for it.

I know a guy who is a Mathews "guru" - tunes many of the new bows in this area, fixesquite afew that the localarchery shop sets up,and really should own a pro shop. He still shoots his Outback. And I'll bet he has tuned 50 Switchbacks. You'd think if the Switchback was that much better, he would own one by now.
