on my lower cam the serving is starting to move. there are space where i can see my spring. i got my bow in 2004 and never had my spring changed

Just get your string/cables reserved. Any good shop can do that for you for about $10 total.

I get my Mathews reserved twice a year.

You should change the string and cableatleast once a year depending on how much you shoot.

I have had two different bow manufacturers quote me 2-3 years on strings unless you are shooting 1500-2000 shots a month. If so, then replace every year.

Have the shoppress your bow, remove the serving and check the string over with a fine tooth comb. If they find anything....Winners Choice or Vapor Trail are excellent strings. If they don't, you should be able to get at least this season out of it.

My last PSE lasted well over 5 years with the same string.

you should get a bigger spring it puts more bounce into the bow[8D]

Then consider yourself lucky the string did not let go.

A new string and cable is a lot cheaper than medical bills;)

Get a new string.

I shoot a lot and I replace my string and cables atleast twice a year.


Once again get a new string and cable and be done with it.

Every year I replace the string. At least once. I personally have never heard of a manufacturer recommending going longer than that. Call a few shops and see what they have to say about it. I'm willing to bet they advise changing it. And not just to make a sale.

As mentioned, you should CHANGE you strings every season! It's pretty much the only thing you really need to do to maintain a good rig every year. Get it done so you can get them broke in and stretched well before the season gets here. Good luck and good shootin'

all i can say is if you're having to get your strings and cables re-served twice a year - then you're getting work done by someone who either doesn't know what they're doing, or doesn't have the proper tools to do it - or both.

also, strings aren't made out of what they used to be - well, they are - but its processed very differently. now things areprocessed for no creep and speed, the strands are thinner, and they don't always give the tell tale signs of failure they used to.

i'd never go on a hunting trip w/ strings over a year old, and w/out a replacement set already shot in and in a baggy waiting for an emergency. it just doesn't make sense to do it any other way.
a darn string or cable isn't making me miss my hunting time - i work too hard for it.
