RE: Help me diagnose this paper tune issue
ORIGINAL: ijimmy A 29 inch 400 spine arrow is going to take between 55 and 60 pounds max draw weight , with 100 grain heads , you were way underspined . For a hard cam, it will, I agree. I am just curious what charts everyone is using these days. Seems they vary greatly. |
RE: Help me diagnose this paper tune issue
I have had pretty good luck with the spine chart on Easton's website - it not only allows you to figure in arrow length, draw weight, and tip weight; but also has a choice between a hard (single) cam and a medium cam. I would agree that you are close to having too soft of an arrow - and your arrows may have "softened" over the years as well. Did you back the limbs down and try it at lower poundage?

RE: Help me diagnose this paper tune issue
I've gotten kinda partial to the draw weight calculator on Carbon Express' website. I plug my numbers in, it spits out a calculated weight and I go check the chart. Then I read across to find out what spine deflection that goes with the shaft they recommend. After that, I've got a spine deflection number I can take to all other manufacturers' sites and compare to their charts.
Doing that, I've found out that they're pretty darn close to each other. |
