Serving For STS????

I just purchased a STS to see what the hype is about. I read somewhere that someone wanted to serve the string where it contacts the STS. Is this necesarry? I thought that more serving would just be loss of string speed but if it needs it then i guess I'll have to do it. Thanks.

I have mine served. It has held up well and I would rather be safe than sorry.

I shot mine for a couple of months without serving, and noticed some minor fraying starting to develop - so I served it. It also seems to work best with a small amount of daylight between the string and rubber end.

There should have been some dental floss like serving that came with the STS. The stuff is so light that you will not notice a difference and it will protect your string.

FYI: Each bow setup is different as to where the STS will work the best. So play with it a little bit. Mine works the best touching the string.

The serving was important on my bow. The STS was causing my string to fray.

As for loss of speed...I haven't noticed any. In fact, I have seen people take off string leaches, etc. because they put on the STS. So that will add speed.

Good Luck!

Atleast you made your dentist happy and flossed your teeth instead of serving your string.

I always recommend serving the string where the String Suppressor contacts the string. I think it's just cheap insurance;)
