Peep Sight Problems
I've got a problem with my peep: The stupid thing is pulled to the side instead of straight because the tube is tied to the cable. It's really noticable and annoying.
What do you think I should do? I could buy a g5 meta-peep, but I'd probably still have alignment problems. I don't really want a hind sight. What would you suggest? |
RE: Peep Sight Problems
take your bow to a pro shop and let em fix it fo ya.... get rid of the tubing!

RE: Peep Sight Problems
Take off the tubing and put on a speed nock. You will be happy.

RE: Peep Sight Problems
Get a Fletcher peep and ditch the tubing.

RE: Peep Sight Problems
How would I keep that type of sight aligned?
Do I need a loop? Would the tru speed nok work without? Now I shoot 29" with out a loop. I don't really want to screw around with my anchor point and such again. Edit: Say I didn't serve the peep in perfectly straight or it twisted a little so a speed nok would have to twist the string a little to line it up. If I use a drop away rest, would the string untwist and the nok affect the arrow? |
RE: Peep Sight Problems
I use a Fletcher peep and keeping thepeep aligned is not an issue if you have a quality string. That is the starting point. After shooting in the string,( I use strings by Gibblet aka Bucknasty), install the peep and you shouldn't have any more rotation problems. If you have a lower quality string you will continue to have peep problems. The more the string creeps the more your peep will get twisted, and the more you will have to adjust.

RE: Peep Sight Problems
All right, thanks.
My bow is pretty cheap and has stock strings. I've had it for a while and I don't know if the strings will stretch any more. There is only a little creep, but it shouldn't matter much if I keep a good anchor point. Would I be okay with a speed nok? |
RE: Peep Sight Problems
Sorry to ask again, but I'd really like to know if the tru speed nok would affect the arrow if the peep is not served perfectly and the nok would have to twist the string to line up the peep. Would the string untwist during the shot and would the nok twist the arrow with it?
Thanks |
RE: Peep Sight Problems
I really don't know about the speed nock. Never had to fiddle with such things. Adjusting the peep so it rotates perfectly square to your eye everytime is a pain in the neck and it can be a real test of either your patience or your cussin' vocabulary - or both - but it's very much worth the time and effort to do it.
Even the guys who use the rubber tubes SHOULD adjust the peep to rotate right. The tube shouldn't be there for anything more than insurance. Most of 'em though have the rubber pulling so hard on the peep to get it aligned that it torques the string and causes tuning problems. |
RE: Peep Sight Problems
ok thanks.
So I should probably use a bow press to do this. A string separator would probably damage the string. I bet I could make a ratchet-loc type bow press that would work well enough. I guess I could just buy a longer tube and tie it to my riser too. I might use a speed nok anyway, unless my string does twist while I draw |
