RE: What glue for inserts?
I always use hot-melt glue. It allows me to reheat and turn or remove inserts. If I have a tip that doesn't spin perfectly, I can check to see if it's the insert and change it, if it is. On occassion I need to trim a set of arrows because of a spine issue and it's much easier to trim from the tip than from a fletched rear.
If you do this, be careful. You can overheat carbon easily. Don't use a torch. I always use a heat gun and hold it as far away as possible and have it still work. I heat for a few seconds while pulling on the insert. I make sure that the insert comes out with the least amount of heat as possible. I've never had a problem with carbons while doing this. However, many have overheated carbons and caused serious problems, so beware. |

RE: What glue for inserts?
I'm running an experiment. Got a half dozen Gold Tips and I've used Gorilla Glue on the inserts. I've used it on all kinds of projects around the house and it seems like once it's glued with that stuff, it's GLUED. Don't know if it's going to work or not on carbon arrow inserts, but.... It was about time to do something wild and crazy. ;)
Anybody ever tried it? If so, how'd it do? |
