Serving Question
 

I've been bowhunting for several years but never got into very many maintenance issues. I just take my bow back to the shop when I need help. But, I'm ready to change that. I need to reserve my string. I've seen instructional articles, but none seem to address the issue of serving diameter. How do I know what's best for my setup.

Serving diameter will depend on the string also. What type of material, how many strands is the given string? You may have to experiment a bit with different serving diameters and your nocks to get the right fit.

Some thicker diamters of serving may have your nocks fitting too tight and thinner diameters too loose. Trial and error for your setup may be required until you find just the right combination of serving diameter, your given string, and your nocks, to make you happy.

You can buy some ask your shop what they have been using on your bow, and then order a roll of that diameter. Or buy a few different diameters of serving in small lengths from your shop to experiment with the nock fit. Buy a roll of the diameter that you like-

Toytaco, I did what black frog said and ended up using braded serving string. What caused me more trouble then the type of serving was the knots and serving my string too tight. I can't remember where I down loaded the info but a search will get you a diagram of the knots(there is a couple different ones used.) and instructions for the process. Good luck. JERRY

jerry ive served hundereds of strings and have never used a single knot. the best way to serve a string is to &quot;back serve&quot; both ends. no knots required. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
