QUESTION ON PREPARING SHAFT FOR FLETCHING????
Can i use sand paper to rough up the surface of the shaft, and then clean it with a alcohol pad???
thanks |
RE: QUESTION ON PREPARING SHAFT FOR FLETCHING????
I have but it really isn't reccomended on carbon.
An S.O.S pad is about the best I have used and then a light cleaning with acetone, and I mean just a light cleaning.Denatured alcohol is probably a better choice. |

RE: QUESTION ON PREPARING SHAFT FOR FLETCHING????
No, never use sand paper on carbon arrows and don't use alcohol, acetone, or any other solvent if you are going to use any of the fast set glues like goat tuff, AAE fast set gel, Gold Tip tip grip, etc... Use a clean rag/ paper toweland water only.
Only use solvent if you are useing the slow setting glues like fletch tite. |
RE: QUESTION ON PREPARING SHAFT FOR FLETCHING????
I'm with big bulls. I've never used sandpaper, just a zip-strip and some acetone, since I use Fletch-Tite. You will need to be meticulous in your removal, as acetone only takes off the glue, but any plastic that is left won't come off. You should have no problems getting everything off without sandpaper.
