ST Axis Arrows
 

I have been shooting the Easton ST Excel carbon arrows this year with good results. Was going to get some more arrows, and was looking at the ST Axis. Since they cost about 50% more than the Excels, I was assuming they were a higher quality arrow.

Last night, I was looking at the Eastman website. Unless it is a misprint, they are saying the straightness of the Excel is better than the more expensive Axis. Is there anything about the Axis that makes it superior to the Excel? Particularly as a hunting arrow? Thx. Roskoe

I think they messed-up on their site. If you look at all of the Axis models they are all .003 except for the standard black. The pamphlet from the shop has the axis at .003 and the excel at .005.

They have other issues on their site too. The epics have a weight tolerance of +/-.0?

Can't comment on the hunting part due to never using them.

How are the excels?

I can't compare the axis to any other thing than my old 2114's so...
But I've shot the axis for about 250 shots and as far as being swift, silent and powerful....they are..... ( I just have trouble getting them out of my target because they penetrate !!! )

The shop owner's dad said he would choose them over the epics, he didn't say why tho'....maybe I'll ask him sometime....

I called Easton this morning, and they acknowledge an error on their website - the Axis, as you said, is .003 and the Excel is .005. I'm actually pretty happy with the Excel, but wondering how much better the Axis will shoot. Probably going to have to just get some and try them . . . . .

my son uses the st axis for hunting.he has harvested his fair share of game.he loves the arrows!

I shoot the ST's, & love them. They have a quiet finish to them, so u don't hear them when drawing back. Mine are the 340s, & are pretty tough. Supposedly, w/the slim design u have a little better penetration? So I've heard. The way I look @ it, my bow costs $1100 full set up, why skimp on the arrows?

I'm shooting the same arrows, with Slick tricks. I have been shooting the axis since they came out. I love them. I shot the Excel's and Epic's and neither one of them was nearly as durable as the axis. I definitely recommend them. I shoot them for 3D as well... they're a little tough to pull but they get the job done.;)

i used to use the axis arrows but they would not tune out of my bow they are very nice arrows dont get me wrong and they have devastating penatration on targets but when your hunting that makes no difference because your broadhead makes a large hole that any arrow will fit through but yes the axis' are a really nice arrow i always here people talking about the penatration of this arrow and that arrow but really doesnt matter when your hunting ok well my sugestion is to go out and buy like 3 arrows and shoot them before you go and buy a dozen or so its a nice way to shoot and see if you really like them or not
