Rough guess about 263 fps

RE: arrow speed

I am thinking 270 - 275.

That is a looooong draw length.

Arrow weight is fine, especially for that much poundage and draw length. That would probably nock a deer over.[:o]

Yeah...archers with 27" draws would kill to be as tall as you. Thats a long power stroke. Can't say exactly how fast your arrows will be going, but they will still be going after they punch through the deer....real question is will you be able to mine them back up out of the ground!

The approximate arrow speed will be 264.1ft/sec.
The KE of your arrow is 78.7ft-lbs.
Your arrow speed is 180.1MPH.

RE: arrow speed

You should be in he high 270's, possiblylow 280's,with your draw length. Ontarget had 292.

However, I've found their numbers to be about 10 to 15 fps faster than what I get when I chrono my bow.

TFOX 05-28-2007 04:16 PM

RE: arrow speed

Archers Advantage had 278 and that is why I said 270 - 275.

RE: arrow speed

I know you usually have solid number TFOX. I wasn't questioning that. Just supplying what Ontarget gave and what I've found.

Did you use the smooth or speed mods?

RE: arrow speed

Who cares about speed, with a 31.5 inch draw he could just reach out and smack the deer with his arrows. :D

RE: arrow speed

come on guys im only 6"5""

RE: arrow speed

keno,
Guys are actually complimenting you due to length envy!!!

You have to realize that most guys shoot 29" or shorter. Without a D-loop I can shoot 30.5 draw length but prefer to use a D-loop and go 30".The arrow is till smoking when it leaves and when it hits with a 430 gr arrow.

With the increased length you can get speeds out of heavier arrows that other guys have to go real light to reach. Or, they have to crank up the bow too. The difficult part is finding arrows that spine well.

By the way. What arrow and weight of tip are you using? I have some 29.5" long CX Terminal Hunter Camothat weight 519 gr. I might take them to the shop with me this weekend to see what speed I get.

Be happy with your height while you still have it. I was 6'3"+ when I was 20 and due to back problems am now closer to 6'2".[:'(]

Pssssssst Dave it is a Commander they dont have the speed/smooth mod option;)

RE: arrow speed

I blame Ontarget for that mistake. I didn't think so myself but was giving them the benefit of the doubt and should have went with what I thought was true.

According to them the Guardian is the only one that does not have the mods.

The final choice was mine so I plead stupidity.

31 1/2" dl!! You can do things we mere mortals only dream about!!!! Sigh.....

I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong TFOX. Seeing my mistake made me feel like that ESPN commercial where the guy is talking out his a$$ about sports.

Plus, when both mods gave the same speedsI should have looked at the Bowtech site again t oconfirm what I was seeing.

I know this guy he works for me....His draw length isnt what he says it 27 and he is 5'7".....

davepjr71 05-30-2007 08:27 AM

RE: arrow speed

Iknow shorter guys that draw further than what would be considered standard. I'd bet your friend falls into that catagory. When they draw the peep is right beside their eye and the nock is back by the ear.

sonnys 05-30-2007 10:03 AM

RE: arrow speed

The reason his draw length is soooo long is because his arms hang down to his knees

TFOX 05-30-2007 03:14 PM

RE: arrow speed

Shoulder width has alot to with draw length.

I draw 28 1/2" on a target setup with a loop and I am only 5' 9 1/2".

I have been checked by a level 4 coach to be correct.I am shooting a little shorter now with a long d-loop.

The bow's a-a along with release style plays a major role in draw length.

sonnys 05-30-2007 05:51 PM

RE: arrow speed

I was just kidding he really is taller than anybody else...It does look funny to see someone draw back that far tho!
