Just do it, you will not be disappointed. Get one from MeanV on AT. $35-45 depending on camo or not. When I am at the range or 3D now Ican't believe the twang from every other bow there. They don't even seem to notice, but they sure comment on the low noise from my bow. Tell you what, you don't like it I 'll buy it from you and modify it if need be for my buddies bow. I assume you have a back hole from the stabilizer?

I like mine. There is a noticable difference in noise level with the STS in place. My bow was pretty vibration free before the STS. Now it is dead in my hand.

I was shooting with a friend the other day that had one.. thats when I noticed the difference..

RE: STS

I'm sure you could machine one easy enough, but I would guess the warranty would be "out the window". Seriously, you won't take it off once you add it, you may have to play with the "gap" just a bit though.

At most, my Patriot is just about touching. They recommend adding some serving there, but I have not had any issues with at least 2000 shots so far.

I just added serving to the area, and it made it quiter.. mine is about 1/4" off the string...

I have mine setupslightly touchingthe string. It is by far the best piece of equipment on my bow.

I think the sts is a great product--could probably be made for less money though.jmho.

RE: STS

I was the skeptic that wrote the post talking about the STS. The STS is worth trying for yourself to see if it makes a difference. I didn't think my Allegiance vibrated that much or was that noisy until I put on an STS and shot.

WOW!!!

When I removed it the difference was noticable. My rig now is quiter thanothers at a much lower draw weightI've heard at the range. I removed my string silencers and added the serving.

Mine is just off the string. You have to play with it to get what's right for you.

Troy, shoot Dan a PM and get one of his Custom String Suppressors... much cleaner look, you can get it custom-dipped to match your camo, and he's a great guy to boot. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=338928

I've got a couple of his suppressors on my bows, and he does a great job with them. I have mine a hair's width off the string.

I 2 have a Mean V suppressor. Awesome product, great look. I've heard rumblings on the grapevine that "STS" is planning on shutin him down' for copyright infringement' & as soon as their patent goes thru. If your planning on getting 1, hurry up before the door gets closed. Definitely has made my bow quieter.

STS has been floating these rumors for some time now, and in my personal opinion, it's just sour grapes that Dan came out with a superior-looking product in the eyes of many at a very reasonable price. Everything I've heard is that they don't have any room to shut him or anyone else down in the marketplace; their patent is way too vague and generic. I would be inclined to believe that, or else they'd also be able to shut down Hoyt and Ross for their stock suppressors on some of their offerings.

RE: STS

IfI understand patent rules correctly as they were explained to me by a friend of mine.

If a company has a patent on a product a person can buy or copy that patent after a certain number of years. However, if it's patent pending then you can't copy the design.

So, never fully patent a product and you will not have to worry about someone copying it or improving on the design. Always leave it patent pending like you are still in the developmental stage. Check out the products that no one else has copied and you'll find that they are all patent pending.

Bottom line is that if the STS is patented someone can copy the design and there is no legal recourse. If they've never patented it then they are SOL. Again, that's how it was explained to me.

The STS is honestly a MUST HAVE piece of equipmeent on EVERY rig. I would strongly suggest everyone to atleast try one and see for yourself, you can't help but be impressed with 'em!

RE: STS

If a person says it dodn't work for them they didn't adjust it enough to find the spot that works.I used to be a doubter and now I'm a promoter of these things.

The bad part is I thought my bow was ok before I put one on. Now I'm spoiled and whenI take it offI think my bow vibrates like a mother. A few months agoI said that was what would happen if you put one on your bow and then took it off. You do not notice something like vibration until you change your set-up.

I used the MeanV CSS last year and it did help my Switchback XT, a considerable amount. Quieter and less jump (Even though there was very little to being with). I'd buy one again in a heartbeat, if the bow didn't already come with one.
