What make and model of bow do you have? Some bows may have a non-threaded portion on near the head so that you do not over tighten and strip the riser. What happens when you start to turn the bolt the other way? Does the limb start to move away from the riser or does it just stay there?

The best thing to do is stop turning when your limb touches the riser.

While I won't argue that some company has used this kind of bolt I can say I've never seen it in 34 years of shooting compounds (target, field, hunting, 3D, etc.). I will go out on a limb, too, and say that if a person can put enough pressure on a bolt to strip the riser threads then he is one hell of a man using one long long allen wrench.

OK well i think i figured it outt thee further out from the riser the limb is the lower the draw weight is that right?
i have a PSE firestorm 27 draw length

BGfisher,

I've never seen it myself in 24 yrs. That's why I said may. Every bow I've ever seen stops when you hit bottom.

Grazed,
You are correct. When you turn counter clockwise you reduce the draw weight of the bow. Be careful not too turn too far out. If you do 2 things can happen. The first is you strip the end of the Riser, the second is thelimb can/will fly off of the riser causing damage to the bow and even worse you when you draw it.

If you need to know the maximum number of turns out contact PSE. Some bows you can turn out 5 turns some are less.

I have a PSE Thunderbolt and it says no more than 4 turns out, but I would think it should bottom out not keep spinning. You better take it to a shop and have it checked.

If your pse has the hyperlite limb pockets , do NOT try to bottom your limbs , there is suposed to be a space betwene them and the risor , find out from your dealer or pse directly what that space is suposed to be
