When/how do you know to change your string .
I've had the same string on my bow- my whole bow hunting career (about 2 years now). It looks good to me , it shoots well . How do I know when to get a new one ? I don't want to be cynical , but anytime someone says that you need somthing after a specific amount of time , I figure theyre trying to make a buck . Are there sighns ? Or should I get it switched out every year ? Thanks .

RE: When/how do you know to change your string .
thats gonna depend alot on how much you shoot and how well you take care of your string ie. waxing . . I would say for someone shooting an average amount every other year or every 3 years as long as you wax regularly.

I wax the string quite abit . There is some white on it ,,,,,, I don't know what that means .

I wax my string after each shooting session with BCY ML-60.
If you are waxing and you start to see white fibers, that means you are fraying the string. Most likely by putting too much friction on the string to "melt" the wax. Over time, this is not good. I recommend going to a softer wax like BCY. It won't take much to have it "soak" into the string. Dab some on and run your fingers up and down 3-4 times and you are good to go. TIP: To clean your string, run a loop dental floss around it, pull it tight and move the dental floss up and down. You'll be amazed! |

In my opinion, your strings system should be replaced EVERY season forpeak performance. Good luck and good shootin'
