setting up a fall away rest
 

I just bought a used bow for my son. It was a fall away rest. I notice at full draw that the arrow is not perfectly perpendicular to the bow. It appears to be angled slightly down. I can adjust the rest to bring this up. Is this the correct move?

Are sure the rest is up all the way? If it is, then I wouldn't trust my eye to determine if the arrow is angling downhill. There is an inexpensive little square you can check this with easily. I think they recommend the nocking point be about 1/4" above square on a compound bow with a mechanical release.

Most single cams like a nockset somewhere around 1/8" high... We've found Bowtechs with their binary cams like to be 100% level as a great starting point.

Also... most manufacturers recommend the arrow shaft resting at the same height as the rest holes, sometimes referred to as the burger button... Ensuring your shaft is even with that will tell you if you need to move your nocking point or adjust your rest to begin with. Ultimately, you'll probably fine-tune with your rest anyway.
