increasing draw weight?

Anybody know how many fps I would increase if I jumped from 66 to 70#? I am shooting a black ice with a 29 inch draw. I am going to go to a tubeless peep which will help a little. Just curious.

I have no clue but if you go to a bow shot they could probly calculate it for you.

I think its something like 2-3 fps per lb.

not as much as you want

It should get you somewhere around 10 to 15 fps. There is alot of thing you can do to increase speed. Smaller lighter peep, string loop instead of metal nock, move string silencers as close to limb tips as possible, increase poundage, try going a 1/2 longer on draw length using a trigger forward style release.

Although you can add a few fps, it also changes the dynamic spine of your arrow. There is only one draw weight that is ideal for a particular arrow, at a particular arrow length, draw weight and draw length, shot out of a particular bow.

Ideally, draw weights are tuned to the spine of the arrow, not to a need for maximum speed. For example, if your arrow spine is borderline or weak, such a change could make accurately shooting broadheads, much more difficult. If you're not shooting broadheads, then it isn't quite as critical for the average archer.

2-3 FPS PER POUND IF YOU LIKE THE RUBER TUBE PEEP KEEP IT, IT ONLY TAKES A WAY 3-4 FPS. NEVER GO WITH A LONGER DRAW! YOU WILL RUIN YOUR FORM

People DO tend to get all wrapped up in this speed stuff. It's really simple. Lighter arrows... more speed, more noise, harder on the equipment. Every add on cost you a little speed. Peep tubing especially is a bummer. All said and done, the peeps, and leeches don't really hurt you a lot. Every extra pound of bow weight gets you a few feet per second. What are you trying to do? Have your bow the fastest you can regardless or what? Do you want a quiet bow? Do you want to take it easy on the quipment? When it's all said and done, if you're after speed go lighter arrow and max poundage, assuming you're up to it.

I got a birth certificate w/ my B.I. ,you should have also.
Mine read 29/70/299fps. w/ a 350gr arrow.
So justsubtract 1 fps for every 5 grains over 350grs. your arrows are.

RE: increasing draw weight?

It would be minimal at best. Even if it's 2fps per lb of draw, you're still looking at less than 10fps increase. I doubt you'd ever notice it.

Except maybe on your longer downrange (30+ yds)trajectory.

Ok. Thanks. I am new to the whole figuring out speed thing. I've never paid any attention to it and from the responses, I should go with what works for me. (i.e.. quiet, vibration, etc...) I think with everything I have on the string, and the arrows I am shooting, I am close to 265 fps. It is shooting great so why tinker? Thanks guys.

8 fps, that would be your gain in that current fps range.

Not noticable in your pins or penetration.

Yes,not worrying about it is your best bet.
