RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
Or you could not shoot with your arm extended that far and shoot a bow that fits you;).
I have never hit my arm with a string yet, I don't see the point in fixing a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place. Paul |
RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
You have to admit... That is a pretty neat video

RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
I don't think I ever realized how much a string jumped around after the shot. I think I'll order one just to try and cut back on that, if anything.

RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
It's almost like he's overpronated in an attempt to get the string to hit his arm just to show the effect... or he's one of those idiots going for the $100,000 grand prize on America's Funniest Home Videos. [:-]
The point of the video still stands, however, and it's one I mentioned in another thread in this forum; most people have no idea how violent the action is when a bow is shot. Actually, Paul Mohr mentioned it first in his recent great post (I have to put "recent" because Paul writes so many of them ;)), and I seconded it ... |

RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
I think on the STS site they show several videos of bows with and without the product. They are pretty enlightening as far as what a bow does on the shot.
I am not saying these products don't work, I am sure they do. If they were complete crap they wouldn't be selling that many of them. I remember when the Jennings or Buckmaster bows or something had these years ago stock. Something simular anyway. Like I said, I just think it is a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist. I have $2 yarn puff balls and limb savers and my bow is VERY quiet, even indoors. I just couldnt' get over how violently the string hits the stop in the videos. I do see your point about the clothing issue, when I dressed in warmer gear I do get some slap on my coat sleeve. I use an arm gaurd to hold my coat down though when I where that much clothing. RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
What about the feature of a STS-CSS possibly saving damage to a bow in an accidental dryfire? The STS-CSS surely would be better to have on then having a string slam all the way forward?

RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
That looks sick they way the wave travels through the skin like its the surface of the water.

RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
I'll be getting one if for no other reason they look awesome :)

RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
This CAN and DOES happen with the RIGHT draw length. The problem usaully arises when you are doing exactly what he shows in the video, heis not rotating his forearm properly and he definately looks like he is trying to make it hit his arm.
There is NO WAY to say his draw is too long from the video but you can say his form sucks, atleast the form in his arm. |
RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
I should point out that this is a target setup and NOT a hunting setup. You can see the v bars in the video.Hunting clothes are not a concern for target shooters.
Hunters will shoot draw lengths that are too short alot when trying to clear their clothing. |
RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
I tried pressing #1 so I could hear the guy scream in English but it didn't work !

RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
On tuesday I was out at the range and saw a guy just sitting at a picnic table with his bow sitting by him. I figured he was resting so I just walked to my normal target. After about 30 minutes I started talking to the guy and asked him if he was done shooting for the day. He replied that his forearm was hurting to bad to even pick up his bow. I looked at his forearm and it was one big strip of bruises, abrasions, and blood. He had absolutely smoked his arm!

RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
I agree with Tfox. He needs to learn the proper grip to get his left elbow pointing more to the left.

cool vid

RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
i was pretty disappointed to find out meanv2 doesnt make a CSS for front mounts:(
i feel that guys pain. when i first got my bow i hit mine a couple times...bad form was the reason...my draw lenght was good...just didnt know how to shoot a bow:) then i started hitting it religiously...because of the swelling! man will a string do a number to your arm...nasty bruise and swelling...i think i even iced it! havent done it since!! and shot 100000x better once i learned to shoot! |
RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
That was a very interesting video...thanks for sharing. As others have said...I didn't realize how much the string bounced around when hitting the arm...
|
RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
Kinda interesting how the string doesn't hit the arm at alluntil about the third oscillation.
|
RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
cool video i noticed that to it doesn't hit right away and only on the back swing i thought it would always hit going forward
[/align] |
RE: Slow motion video of string hitting arm
Only reason I could think of would be the momentum of the string going forward might slightly extend the arm causing the string to hit.
