Default Containment rests?

How many of you use a containment rest OR are thinking about trying one??? I would enjoy everyones opinion on the containment rest they use or the one they think they would like to use??? I know the WB has a large following and the GKF Shoot Out is starting to make waves, but what really is THE BEST containment sytem and why do you like it??? Thanks

They are simple and your arrow can't fall off. I'm a believer in the WB. Great rest and plenty accurate. HAving said that though, I just set up my Pro-lite did some padding and silencing to it and may be hunting with it this year since I use it for 3-D.

The Shoot Out is the best in its class. Loads faster and adjust to all arrows with out problems{atleats for me}.

In my opinion a modified Whisker Biscuit is the best containment rest. Just trim the bisket and cut a small notch for loading arrows and it becomes an even better rest for hunting.

the shoot out is cool - works good, holds the arrow solid & you can get good flight using a good helical out of it

I am testing the Wisker Bisquit against the shoot out right now. Both rests have their good and bad points. I am not done yet, and it will take a couple of months to really sort everything out. I will say that the WB does it's best with smaller fletchings, 4" seems about perfect. It also is best used with vanes. Feathers tend to "fuzz" up. Vanes hold up pretty well, if you use the right ones with the proper glues. The shootout is more adjustable for shaft size, and the idea is to get full clearance. It is possible with low profile 5" vanes with a moderate helical, larger vanes like fletch-tite vanes are tough. 4" fletch again seems to give the best clearance. The Shootout also works very well with feathers.
As for loading the arrows the shootout is quicker, but thier is a slight "click". It is very minor and can be done silently if you go very slow. The WB can be "top" loaded if you cut a notch in it. It doesn't seem to effect accuracy at all, but it does weaken the rest some. If you leave the WB "stock" it is still not slow to load, it just takes getting used to. You will have to be careful with mechanical heads as you could push the O ring off the blades. I have trimmed the Bisquit on one side, both sides, and left it stock. I have found that with Arizona 4" vanes I can trim the inside of the Bisquit and get bullet holes at all distances with no fletching wear to speak off.
The shootout is simpler to setup, as it really needs no trimming or modifications to get it going. It is also quieter with alumimum arrows, when drawing back. The WB is slightly noisey with aluminum, but is very silent with the carbons I have.
With the arrow rest troubles I had this year, one of these will be on my primary bow next season, and the other on my 1st Backup, just not sure wich is going where yet.
Both rests are dependable, and have their "quirks", both seem to be accurate and fairly easy to tune, and I think wich ever one you choose you will be happy. Both have a place in the market, and it really depends on what your looking for.

5 shot I agree about 4" is perfect fletch size for these types of rests. Keep us posted on your results, I have not shot the WB but I have shot the shoot out. I really liked it but I just always seem to go back to the golden premier. old habits are hard to break!

what arrows are you using these days 5? it seems like you used to use cabelas but I can't remember. I am thinking about shooting some of those Easton Redlines to see how they do.

Moonge, I am doing the tests with carbon and aluminums. I hunted with aluminum this year, but not sure for next. I like a heavier arrow, around 475 to 500 grns. The carbons draw quieter on both rests, but aluminum is more consistant and easier to work with. I wish I could just get Easton to "sponser" my broadhead tests, then I would shoot Acc's and be done with it. Those are after all in my opinion the best arrows going right now. They are just so exspensive!!!!!!

I agree 100% ACC's are the best arrow on the market and way to expensive!

5-shot:

Thanks again for the testing that you do. I am also trying the Whisker Biscuit (again), and this time the accuracy seems to be up to snuff. I am using an aluminum biscuit with a loading slot, and the back trimmed flat. I have not shot the setup at long range yet, but it seems accurate enough at 20. I was surprised by your comment about noise, though. I have only one decent aluminum arrow, and it slides through the biscuit with very little noise. My smooth carbons (Blackhawk Vapors) don't make too much noise, but the Carbon Express camos are way too loud to draw on a deer IMO. I was seriously thinking of switching to aluminum, since I can shorten my arrows somewhat with this rest. Just wondering if you have drawn an ACC through the biscuit, and if so, what was the noise level? Thanks again for your testing of equipment.

Avoid the inevitable until it is absolutely unavoidable!
