Matt,
Like Straightarrow, I epoxy mine (cable rod) into the riser. I guess my slide could be loose and causing some of the noise prior to the addition of the dampners but like I said, it was reasonably quiet before the addition......as to "why" they work I honestly have no clue but they definately do......

I'm with Matt on this one. I shoot a Darton Maverick also and have it decked out with the usual silencing stuff. I picked up the cable dampners at Walmarts since they were half-price. I didn't notice any difference afterwards. Who knows, maybe I've got them on wrong.

Matt & Turc,
What grain arrow are you shooting? I'm right at 5 grain/lb. Maybe that's the difference????

CG, that could be part of it. I lean towards a heavier arrow (about 6.25gr/lb.)

Like Matt and Turc, I haven't seen a difference with the Maverick bows. The fact of the matter is that I've seen more of a difference with metal cable guards over carbon cable guards. The metal acts like a tuning fork and the dampeners neutralize this effect. The carbon cable guards are naturally dampening in their composition.

I'm not saying they don't make a difference. I'm just saying that the difference with carbon cable guards, from my experience, has been negligible.

I will have to agree with MATT/PA,LEN, and the rest of the guys. I have had them on several bows including the dartons, HCA,Bowtech, and PSE and I have never had that "OH man did that make a difference!" with the cable dampners. but you never know i guess.

Yeah, I've probably just lost my mind (or my hearing).

CG: Loose your mind or your hearing; but, please don't loose your 'sense of humor'.

You know me, I call it like I see it. I just haven't seen it your way. :)

That was actually said tongue cheek...guess I should have left a smiley face. Don't know what I got going on with my maverick but I just tried it again tonight and there is a VERY obvious difference with the cable dampners on. With the dampeners on it is officially the quietest bow I've ever owned or heard. So I may be crazy but at least my bow is REALLY quiet.

CG, I had the same results with my FX. The cable dampeners really made a difference for me and my bow.
