4 fletch?

I have a bpi jig, it allows you to switch from 3 fletch, to 4 fletch arrows, the majority of arrows I have seen are made with 3, how come it is uncommon for 4 fletch arrows?...I am tinkering around at this moment with some 4 fletch blazers on a right offset.

It is actually quite common on indoor bows but for hunting,it creates a lot of drag and will affect downrange trajectory.

4 fletch is not as popular due to fletching clearance with many 'shoot through' rests. The advent of drop-away rests could change this if people understood 4 fletch advantages more.

Len is correct. There are many advantages. They would be much more stable with broadheads.

Clearance is/was the main issue, can't believe I forgot to mention it.

At hunting distances, most will not see much of a difference if any in there pins.

You probably wouldn't want to use 4 fletch on a really light fast arrow, too much drag can cause instabilityfor light, fast arrows.

i thought 4 fletch was used mainly for recurve or traditional shooting

mostly FITA and NFAA guys use the 4 fletch configuration and normally use short vanes where they can maintain spin down range without loosing a lot of speed
you wont see any recurve or trad guys using 4 fletch because the extra fletch would hit the shelf and face of the bow

4 fletch would work very well with folks who use blazers and large fixed blade broadheads.

I think i will stick with three for me. I know that it works good. I dont trust 4 fletched arrows yet.

I just put on some of the 2.25 quik spins...they are tiny, very small profile. I wonder how they'd shoot with 4 fletchings? May test and arrow and report back.
