I guess I should wax the string at some point, eh?

Oh come on, someone has to ask a dumb question every once in a while, right?:D

So, what parts of the string should a person wax? The entire thing? What about the cable? Looks like the same material to me as the string. Do I wax it too?

How, specifically, do I wax the string?

Wax everywhere there isn'tserving.Cables included.

Get some good wax,not the cheap tex tite stuff.Dalton makes some good wax.

It isn't necessary to wax every time you shoot.A couple -3 times a year is all that is needed. There will be many that will disagree but you don't want wax build up.It will cause inconsistacies.

I wax a little more often than tfox but i agree about the quality of wax. I generally shoot daily and wax everyfew weeks.

It doesn't hurt to wax the servings, I wax the entire string and cables, including the string loop.

I do the same as John... I figure the more protection the better. :)

I try to wax every month to every other month...depending on how much I shoot and I wax anywhere there isn't serving.

And "serving" would be what...the parts that are wrapped (i.e. the part where the arrow in nocked)?

yep thats the serving.

i shoot alot in good weather months and wax pretty often...its one of them things that really cant hurt...atleast i dont think so...if your sting looks dry..WAX it. ill wax atleast once a week when im shooting heavy..couple hundred shots a week. i also wax EVERYTHING...including the loop and serving...doesnt hurt...

For hunting, overwaxing really won't hurt that much but if you are a target shooter and good enough to hit the spot at 50 plus yards it can hurt.

Wax will build up and cause inconsistancies. The wax will constantly be coming off and as the string looses wax,it will shoot slightly different.

This has been proven to me on a shooting machine,by one of the best bow tuners in the world.;)

I do agree that for hunting,a little more might be a good thing due to various weather conditions but still say that more than 3-4 times aseason is overdoing it.

Great advise TFOX,

I oftenlook at these types of questions through the eyes of a hunter only.
