Arrow Ballistics
I figure one of you technical guru’s has this info close by. I was wondering what type of velocity is needed to have a single sight pin put an arrow in the vitals of a deer for distances from 0 to 30 yards. I’m sure this depends on arrow characteristics such as mass but I’m guessing you have calculations for several arrow masses. Is this possible with modern hunting setup’s?

RE: Arrow Ballistics
cbanman,
It not only has to do with the arrow, but the bow its a package!!!! If your setup is fairly fast (say 275fps or more) you can set one pin say at 25 yds and be in a 7" kill no problem. At 15-20 yds you would be slightly high and at 30yds a bit low. All you would have to do is to adjust your point of aim a bit up or down to hit center of aim. Aim Hard! |
RE: Arrow Ballistics
rule of thumb, 300 fps will put you 3" up and 3" down out to about 35 yards...

RE: Arrow Ballistics
at 300 fps with a 350gn arrow, sighted for 25 yards, you will hit 1.16" low at 5 yards
.68" low at 10 1.51" high at 15 1.28 high at 20 and 2.43" low at 30 Try The Archery Program at www.thearcheryprogram.com WELL worth the $$$ |
