RE: Bow Press Recommendations
I recently bought a Bowmender press from a forum member. Walks With A Gimp. He makes a very good press at a reasonable price. Do a search here for Bowmender press and you will find great reviews. I am pretty new to doing my own bow work and this press makes it easy. It is very easy to use, holds the bow secure and upright. It stores in a small space. Also it presses the bow by flexing the limbs without putting pressure on the riser so you don't have to worry about twisting or bending the riser. WWAG has posted a how to use video here. it should come up in your search. great product! edit: here is a link http://media.putfile.com/Bow-Press-How-To

RE: Bow Press Recommendations
I have used them all and the best one I have ever used is the Xpress Bar none

RE: Bow Press Recommendations
the sure loc express or the toad press both work very well

RE: Bow Press Recommendations
Sure Loc Xpress.

RE: Bow Press Recommendations
Another vote for the Bowmender from Walks with a Gimp.....Fantastic press.

RE: Bow Press Recommendations
If I were going to spend many hundreds of dollars for a big bench-mount press, I'd buy a Sure-Loc Xpress... but I spent way less than that for a press that's extremely portable and presses with the same amount of stress on my bow as that: the Bowmender by WWAG. FANTASTIC press, and does all you need -- one of the best, if not THE best, presses on the market.

RE: Bow Press Recommendations
I love my Sure-Loc X-Press and feel it's the best press out there.
Especially, the best one for Crossbows. Since I have a recentinterest in crossbows, the X-Press will come in extra handy shouldI decide to purchase one. The Toad is nice too and gives you a lot for your money in a full size bench press. Even impressed with the footage of Walks and his press that Greg provided. Looks like a good press for the money, Walks. Probably the nicest thingI ever said to Walks. ![]() Sag. |
RE: Bow Press Recommendations
Yeah, I agree Sag. It probably is the nicest thing you've said to WWAG:D. I have a bowmender, hard to beat for the $$$$. The only problem I had with it was, it ate the Elite sticker off my bow limb.[8D]

RE: Bow Press Recommendations
i have wwag's for portable use and one from toad for home use. i used to get by on just wwag's, but its nice having a big one as much as someone is using one here.

The only problem I had with it was, it ate the Elite sticker off my bow limb.[8D] You can buy a Bowmender by PM'ing Walks With A Gimp (do a member search or look through some of the tech threads to find some of his posts). If I'm not mistaken, he also had a thread up in the classifieds at one time. Not sure if it's still there... BowTech's owntechnical advisor and I both concur: there's only two presses we'd have used on our own personal bows -- the Sure-Loc and the Bowmender. |
