Indoor Season??
So I know a lot of you guys are wrapping up your bow seasons, mine was done last week. I will get out with a gun a few more times just to spend time with family and friends, but other than that my season is about over.
I am shifting gears and ramping up for the upcoming indoor spots season, leagues start around here in January. How many of you guys are going to be active in indoor spots this winter? What goals do you have for yourselves? What setups will you be using? Do you guys shoot 5 spot or 3 spot? I know we don't have a huge population of target specific shooters here, but we do have a few, and honestly indoor season is the perfect time for changes to form, and to really focus on being a better archer. It can be quite humbling at times, but can be tons of fun if your with the right crowd, and honestly it beats the heck out of not shooting all winter. This year I will be shooting in 2x local leagues, as well as a weekly indoor 3D event all hosted at local clubs. |
RE: Indoor Season??
I'll be shooting indoor this year Rick James. But i'll be shooting a Traditional Recurve. We shoot a single Face target scored 10-1 the rounds are shot just like a vegas round. I will be shooting in the PSAA State Championships again this year. The shop I work and shoot at has a team of Longbow and a team of Recurve shooters. Both teams are the current State Record Holders for recurves and longbows. Hopefully this year I can contribute much more to our Recurve Team score and we can break our existing record. You want humbling try shooting a longbow or a recurve after shooting a compound for many years.

RE: Indoor Season??
I'll be shooting indoor 5 spots. Our shop should be starting a league soon, since firearms season starts tomorrow.
My goal is to break 300. When in form, I'm anywhere from 297 to 299. I always seem to drop at least one arrow. [:@]I also want to get my x count up. I'm around 24 x's right now. I knowgetting my x count upwould seriously help my goal of shooting 300. I'll probably hit the local 3D indoor shoots too. I like 3D. It's more fun than spots. When I switch over,I just have to adjust my rest, because I shoot Women's Hunter Class. I use Beman 9.3 for target. Right now, I'm at 379 grains using 85 grain points. Later on, I plan to get different arrows to drop a few grains. |
RE: Indoor Season??
Nobody else shooting indoors?

RE: Indoor Season??
No place to shoot indoors here. Anyplace that big is stuffed full of commercial fishing gear for the winter. As far as outdoors goes, let's suffice to say that it's been 25* and blowing 25-50 for the last 10 straight days here.

RE: Indoor Season??
That's too bad. There have been some fantastic archers that came from Alaska. Tim Gillingham is from AK I believe, and won darn near everything he entered last year indoors and out.

RE: Indoor Season??
Yep, both my spot and 3-D bows have been collecting dust for the last 4 years. Anchorage and some of the more civilized areas have pretty good clubs but the population is too transient to keep anything going here on the island.

I'll be shooting Dart League (computerwild game scenes) with my hunting bows. Next best thing to 3-D shooting IMHO.
