Waxing your string

I am new to bow hunting so could someone explain how to do this and what type of wax to use. My bow is a PSE nova.
Also could you post a few more tips on how to care for the bow?

get a wax like bcy ml-6 w/ silicon in it. put it on gently. don't heat the string up between your fingers. let it sit overnight, wipe any excess off gently.

I press my bow a tad to take tension off the string thenheat the wax up on the end and rub it in between each strand after the wax has hardened i release pressure
this way the wax is completly saturated the complete string and Harness assembly

mobo, i'm pretty sure it doesn't do any good to 'rub it in'. due to the tension on the string, and what happens when the bow is shot, you can't keep wax down in there. heating the string when applying only allows any wax that is in there to melt and run away from the tension in the center of the string, instead of melting into it. the idea, as it was explained to me, is that the silicon will seep out of the wax and into the fibers of the strands. supposedly you can wax your servings and the silicon will seep thru the serving and into the string fibers below.
also, you tear the fibers on the outer strands w/ vigorous rubbing.
that's my latest theory anyway, and its lasted pretty long so far.

bigpapascout, will you come over and take care of my bow that well?that sounds like very nice treatment.

RE: Waxing your string

Thanks, gibblet...that makes complete sense. I know when I bought my tubes of ML 6 it came with a leather strap to rub the wax on with.....I wasn't a fan of that because naturally it left little brown spots all over my string...can't be a good thing so I quit using the leather and use my fingers.....

One thing is for sure, you knowa HELL of a lot more about strings than I do, and that's the way I will do it from now on......I HATE those fuse strings and will be restringing after season .....So I want to know the BEST way to care for them...

I user Vapor Trail strings, and I was told from my pro staff to apply the wax to the string and rub it in with my fingers, and I have heard of using the Leather strap after you have rubbed it in with your fingers to merely remove any excess.
