Start at 6 ft. Move to 9 to double check the arrow's reaction through paper.

Remember that paper tuning is just the begining stage of tuning your bow and checking the spine match for what you're shooting. Once you've acheived a desirable tear it doesn't mean that your bow is tuned. Quite frankly after you complete walk back tuning and group tuning you'll see that when you shoot through paper again, your one time desirable tear is probably worse than when you first paper tuned.

Don't fall into a rut like most do by thinking you should have a perfect tear after walk back/group tuning is completed. You are tuning the bow to "how you shoot". If the bow was tuned with a "hooter shooter" it'd be a different story.

Good luck. Go to easton and download the tuning guide. It will walk you through all the steps.

You can start at about 3-4'. Once you have the results you are looking for then try it again at about 10', then 15'. After that there isn't much point. If you don't have things straightened out by then you have some serious problems. And at about 10 yards your fletching is starting to do a good job.

what he said !! you want to get the arrows flight before it starts to straighten out. This way you can pattern left, right, up or down tears.

I was told by a pro that unless you have perfect form EVERYTIME that paper tuning isnt going to do squat for you.
I dont know if you do or not but just a thought...
