DRYFIRED MY BRAND NEW SUPER SLAM
I JUST PURCHASED A BRAND NEW REFLEX SUPER SLAM AND SHOT MY FIRST BUCK OPENING AFTERNOON. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF MY BOW, BUT YESTERDAY I ACCIDENTIALLY DRYFIRED THE BOW, AND I HAVE LOST SLEEP THINKING THAT IVE DAMAGED MY BOW IN SOME WAY. I CALLED REFLEX AND THEY SAID THAT WHEN THEY TESTED THIS LIMB IT TOOK OVER 1000 REPEATED DRYFIRES TO ACTUALLY BREAK. ANY HELPFUL INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.:(

RE: DRYFIRED MY BRAND NEW SUPER SLAM
Its not a very good feeling when this happens but with todays carbon fiber technoligy broke and cracked limbs is less of a concern than it was 3 or 4 years ago especially Hoyt/Reflex are continually improving their limbs,
if it were a Mathews on the other hand I might be a little more worried of a limb failure but for the most part the string will break before the limb does. |
RE: DRYFIRED MY BRAND NEW SUPER SLAM
The most common initial problem from a dry fire is usually string/cable jumping off the cams. Do a thorough physical inspection and if all looks okay, you should be good.

RE: DRYFIRED MY BRAND NEW SUPER SLAM
I dry-fired my Trykon shortly after I bought it. I was trying toturn my peepsite and let loose at about half-draw. I had that same bad feeling in my stomach...30 years ago dry-firing was the kiss of death for a bow. I called the shop, was told to give it a quick once over to look for cracks, and try it. Never had a problem. Didn't even have to resight it!

RE: DRYFIRED MY BRAND NEW SUPER SLAM
I'm not trying to be smart but why would you be drawing it without an arrow?
|
RE: DRYFIRED MY BRAND NEW SUPER SLAM
Another possible side effect of a dry fire is bent cams. Dry fires can scare the crap out of a person. I done it once at the range, I thought sure I grabbed an arrow. Even after firing, I wouldn't accept I dry fired, and went down range to find my arrow. It happens to everyone. Brain farts that is.

No worries most guys shooting these tiny arrows dry fire theirs every time they shoot.
