paper tuning troubles
Is it possible that a set up will just not shoot a perfect bullet hole while paper tuning.
I spent 2 hours paper tuning last week and never could overcomenock high tear. I had the pro shop guy helping me. We lowered my nock point so much that the arrow was grossly out of wack.. Any suggestions? |
RE: paper tuning troubles
Without knowing anything about your setup, there's no way to even make a wild guess. Just knowing what arrow rest you have could help, but it'd be nice if you list what bow you have, the poundage, draw length, arrowbrand, size and point weight, and everything you've got on the bow. Give us the works! Then maybe somebody can give you at least an educated guess. ;)

Mathews SQ2 (60-70 lb limbs)
65 lb draw wt. (approx) 29 inch draw 29 inch Gold Tip Hunter 100 gr tip (256 FPS) NAP quick tune 3000 2" blazers string loop scott release Copper John Dead nuts 3 pin sight. String Leeches Peep w/tubing braided wrist sling liquid filled stabilizer The bow is new to me. I aquired it on a trade. It had never been shot when I got it. I shot it about 50 times prior to going to the pro-shopwith it. |
RE: paper tuning troubles
I would continue to shoot it for another 150 shots or so,then take it back to the shop and get them to put it back to spec before trying to tune it.
Alot will also depend on how you grip the bow. I for one dont like the piece of 4x2 that they have as a grip much to wide for my liking. Is Spring anywhere near Ft Worth? If it is then we could hook up and I will have a look at it for ya even tho I dont put too much faith in paper tuning in fact I have not paper tuned a bow in a long time. Paper is a good place to start but is not the end of the tuning process. |
RE: paper tuning troubles
Which Gold Tip arrows specifically? If they're XT 5575's then it's possible they're slightly underspined. If the shop has some try an XT 7595 and see what happens. Barring that try turning the weight down some more and see if that helps.

Go to the mathews forum and ask a tech there. www.forum.mathewsinc.com
You should initially check your brace height and cam timing. gl |
