RE: Elite Archery......new bows?

Who is making the strings? A local good friend of mine bought 2 E-500's from a local dealer and had the loops on the bottom cam pull through on both...........they were advertising Winners Choice as a selling point and now crackers and others are saying they don't look like Winners Choice. Who's strings are they? Has Elite addressed the statements of Rex Darlington from Darton saying that he will protect the exclusive patent for Darton and Bowtech only on the Binary? I would imagine some of the dealers have to be expressing concern with wrapping their money up in inventory that may be out of business if Rex decides to flex his lawyers on them and it doesn't go Elite's way.....................I am curious to know what Elite is responding with to these concerns.

I don't know much of anything about that, but the strings are indeed Winner's Choice.

I was just thinking about that....I think my shop owner told me Elite is paying royalties......Could be wrong though.

Looks like typical Elite geometry. Certainly is not a 9" brace height, but probably is smokin' fast. I'm wondering about the binary cams as well. Elite and others seem to be confident that the Ketchum patent is enough prior art that it makes the Darton patent unenforceable. Things could get interesting. Good thing they are using Barnsdale limbs. Can you say prestress? Wow!

My eyes may be deceiving me, but that looks like about 5" of reflex on that riser - ouch!

My other thought is that those cams look like they have one heck of a steep draw force curve. I'm guessing they would be a bear to turn over, which is probably necessary to generate those kinds of speed.

It makes me sad to see manufacturers catering to the speed crowd this way. If people only realized what features make a good hunting bow.

ORIGINAL: Cougars09

what i cant wait is to see what ross has done, i think if the picked up abot 10fps or made a hybrid cam it might be my next bow purchase if i can find a way to buy one because my dealers havent started selling them yet
Cougar,
I don't know if it's a hybrid but it's my understanding that we will be seeing a new optional cam this year from Rossthat should push the IBO up to 315-320. The bows will all be the same and the original cam will be standard but we can order the new cam as an option. Should be interesting. I'll be buying a new bow in 07 and the CR334 is on the top of my short list. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot one yet as i just recently got a dealer within driving distance but my plans are to test drive onesoon. If it shoots anything like it looks it's no doubt a shooter and would be a very nice addition and companion to my Bowtech Liberty.:D

mobowhuntr,
I was reading about this very topic this AM and you are wrong on both counts.
Elite is NOT paying royalties on the binary cam system, Darton holds the patent and has given Bowtech exclusive rights. Terry Martin of Martin Archery said on Archerytalk that no other company can or will be able to use it and Darton will defend.[:-]WOW.

Also Mike Slinkard from Winner's Choice just came on an existing thread and said that they haven't supplied Elite with strings for MONTHS and don't plan to in the future, and it appears they are having actual blow up problems from whatever strings they are using combined with a defect in cam design:

You can read it here: (I just got done reading and I'd be pretty nervous)
http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=389181

So they are continuing to lead people to believe that they are supplying Winner's Choice strings and cables without saying differently to their dealers or customers?

RE: Elite Archery......new bows?

Well, that's just about all the information I need to turn my head away from them. I was holding out and quite frankly am tired of the lies. It's a damn shame too, because those are damn fine bows. I still just can't believe that if Kevin KNOWS he's illegally using the cam that he would continue to do so. That's dumb, even given everything else that's taken place. I don't mind telling ya'll I am EXTREMELY disappointed. [&o]

I could be wrong, but I thought I'd heard that Elite already lost the court case with Bowtech.
