String Problem

Hello, I shoot a 1999 hoyt powertec, with redline cam, 60-70 pounds, right now draw lenght is 27 1/2", It shoots great, except the serving is fraying where the string goes around the cam, the string is unharmed, I shoot about 15 times or less a day, sometimes not at all a day, our season opener is this sunday, and there is no way I can get a new string, retune it, etc, and it is shooting great, would I be alright to make it to january, or december for the season and then replace it, the string was replaced about a little more than a year ago, i keep it waxed and put lots of wax on the exposed string, will it hurt anything, and what happens if the string breaks, will it break the bow?....and can anyone tell me what lenght string I need because the sticker isn't on my limb and I bought it used, thank you for any help!

RE: String Problem

As long as it's just the serving and the string itself is fine, you're good to go.

Look up your limb/cam combination and it will give you the string length.

Well I know I have the redline cam, but I can't tell which limbs I have, they are solid, and I know they are not carbonites....what do you think that leaves left?

Also if I need to replace the whole thing do i look at the string length or add the cable length to the string lenght, the string length is around 80-90ish it says, but do I add cable lenght, and all the strings i have seen do not have the y cable, or maybe i didn't look close enough, does the string come ready to put on the bow or does the cables have to be attached to the string. thank you!

RE: String Problem

should be a string and cable length(s). they are seperate pieces. you'll need them all.
