Determining KE

I was wondering if anyone could help me out on the topic of Kinetic Energy. I was trying to find out what my bow has as I have seen it mentioned here quite a bit. I shoot an XI Impulse, 83# draw weight, 28" aluminum arrows.

Thanks Guys.

RE: Determining KE

@83 lbs you should be pretty high, unless you are shooting 2X4's. But you will need to know your FPS & arrow weight. Check out Bow Jackson web page lots of good info their.

Good judgment comes from years of bad judgment.

RE: Determining KE

Do you know how many fps (feet per second) you shoot? You also need to know the exact grain of you arrows. Figure...
Grain Weight X Velocity X Velocity then divide it by 450,240.

It's easy once you do it a few times...for example
You shoot 375 grain arrow at 275 fps
375 X 275 X 275=28,359,375 divided by 450,240=62.98 foot pounds of kinetic energy.

Hey look everybody I helped somebody! WOOHOO! Good luck!

Thanks guys! I knew I could count on you.

My KE is 69.65 ft pounds, and my next question is, is that good?

Oh, and AB, bowjackson is a great site, thanks.
