Fine Tuning
I have a new Fred Bear Element which is about 4 weeks old. I'm shooting Easton ST Epic Realtree 400 arrrows with 85 grain tips at 60# and flying them through a regular 2 prong rest. I'm also using a realease. It is very accurate and i tried paper tuning it. The problem is, is when i shoot close up, it gives me one reading and then if i move back alittle and so on, it seems as if the fletching is making a circle around the shaft as I move back. (i'm talking like from 10-20ft) I was wondering what i could do to get the perfect shot through the paper at different distances (perfect flight).I also shoot 85 grain thunderhead and they shoot exactly the same as my tips. Also i have shot a bare shaft arrow and also have good accuracy but has alittle kick. Any info will be greatly appreciated!

RE: Fine Tuning
That is called arrow reflex. At 10-15 feet the arrow in reflexing. A couple of things you might try. Shoot though paper at 5 and then 10 YARDS and see what you have for a tear. If you still are having a problem that you can't tune out. Try a stiffer shaft arrow, and start the whole process over.
Also, try a different arrow rest. The 2 prong is a little on the low end. It you are going hunting, primarily, then look at the Whisker Bisquit or the NAP 360. I prefer the 360. |
RE: Fine Tuning
Check out Easton's web page for bare shaft tuning. This tuning method will allow you to fine tune your set up.

Thanks for the info jake. I think i'm gunna pick up a new rest today. I was looking more at the drop-aways like the QAD or the quicktune 2000. i was also checking out the 360 as well. i really don't know which is better.
Thanks, Chris |
RE: Fine Tuning
If you are going for a great drop away, check the Trophy Taker and the Smart Rest. Both are good quality. The Drop Zone is good but pricey. Also check the Muzzy Drop. Thinking of buying one of these myself and I shoot a Shaeffer right now
