stabilizers for hunter class
 

I have a 02 hoyt ultratec with command cams that i would like to use in the hunter class next year and i'm looking for a new stabilizer for it and i was wondering who has a setup simular to mine to give me a idea of what to buy before i go the archery shop and part with my money or maybe make a fool of myself :) thanks for info. you can give me

I have that exact bow, and for competing in Hunter Class you are going to want a stabilizer with a little bit of length and heft for a steady hold.
Out of all the stabilizers out there currently I would personally shoot either a 10" or a 12" "Stealth 3D".
They offer the length and balance you will want (can be flipped if you prefer the weight centered toward the riser), and the design works extremely well at cutting recoil and vibration which will help greatly with the typically light 3D shooting set-ups especially on dual cams such as your CC+.

I've got the same problem, except my bow will be the new Patriot DC. I'm looking at the Doinker line of stab's, they have a pretty big line to choose from. The 7" hunter wouldn't be a bad choice. Here's the site, enjoy; www.doinker.com

While the Doinker is good.......if your next bow is gonna be a dual cam Patriot, do yourself a favor and get a Stealth "Hunter" probably an 8".
I did some pretty extensive tests with various stabilizers, and the Doinker didn't do nearly as well as the Stealth did.....and one of the bows I tested them on was a Dual Cam Pro38.
In fact on each one of my bows the Stealth did better for noise reduction, vibration reduction and recoil than even the high priced SIMS stuff.
I know my dual cam bows were night and day when comparing the Stealth to the Doinker. Depending upon the balance of the Dual Cam Patriot I will most likely run a 6" or an 8" Stealth "Hunter" off of mine (which I already have ordered) :)

I have an 8" Stealth on the way.
Have been wanting to try one ever since reading your reports.
When it gets here, I'm going to try it against my Kyber.
I have owned 14 different stabilizers so far.
The Kyber is the greatest I have owned at reducing recoil.
These include Neutralizer, Vibrachek, SuperStix, Toxonics ACE, Doinker, HTM, AEP, Easton, Carbofast, Detowis, Kudlacek, Dynamic, Scorpion, and Tranquilizer.
Plus, friends stabilizers I have tried have never beaten the Kyber either.
If the Stealth can beat the Kyber, then it is indeed the best!
Will be giving you guys my own report on the Stealth in the near future.
Looking forward to seeing how the Stealth compares.
Going to let some of my friends and competitors try the Stealth also.
It should be interesting.
So all you guys wanting a new stabilizer, don't waste your money on something inferior!

Thanks for the info Matt, I haven't been faced with a new setup in a few year and I'm a little behind (although I do like my uncle's doinker). Also, wasn't it you that killed that nice buck with half his rack broke of (from the New Stuff from Bowtech for 03 forum) or am I mistaken? I have trouble with this memory stuff, or that's atleast what everyone tells me, I think? Thanks again

Try the Sims Modular Stabilizer. It isn't light weight.

Thanks Matt, I'll check in on the Stealth 3-d line of stabilizers. I hope I can find a dealer close to me so that I can try the different length of stabilizers you have mention.

Sagittarius, I have a 11.5 kyber that I had on my older protec which I enjoyed using, but when I put on the ultratec it seems to me to drop the bow forward pretty fast. Maybe thats the way you should shoot it , but not to sure on that. Can you shed some light on how a stabilizer should react after the shot. Again thanks everyone for your imput on this, it will help in my hunt for the perfect setup. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Geez man it sounds like you have Turrets Syndrome with that stabilizer list!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> You lost me from Kudlacek to Scorpion, but I did test the Stealth against all the others in your list and also the SIMS Enhancer2000/Tranquilizer combo.
All that is except the Kyber......let me know how that comparison goes for you. I think you will be very pleased especially considering your affinity for dual cams.

My target bows are heavy and I use 18&quot; to 30&quot; stabilizers on them.
I use AEP stabilizers with removable adjustable sliding weights. I adjust them until my bow sits dead in the hand.
After the shot, my bow moves straight toward the target but doesn't tilt forward.
Sounds like your Kyber is a little heavy for your Ultratec if it falls forward too fast.
Nothing wrong with a bow falling forward a bit after the shot if your follow through is correct and you like the way the stabilizer balances your bow when aiming.
But if it seems too front heavy while aiming and falls too rapidly after the shot, you need to counter balance it.
If your stabilizer hole goes straight thru the riser, you can counteract the heavy stabilizer with a single back weight.
If not, you will need to use a V-Bar system to counteract the weight.
Or just get another stabilizer that gives you the balance you prefer.

Yeah, got a bunch of stabilizers, lol.
Oh well, they're not all that expensive except for my AEP's and I like to try new ones.
Hence, the reason for trying the Stealth.
Planning on getting a new 2003 Merlin for hunting next year and plan on using the Stealth on it.
For the remainder of this year, I will use it on my Mach 8.
