BH tuning a Hoyt

All summer I was shooting Easton 2114 xx78 27” long at 56 to 58lbs I use a release with a trophy taker shaky hunter rest my draw is 29” the bow is a Hoyt ultra tech the arrows flew and grouped great. I had a bunch of 2117 xx 78 and xx75 28” long so I figured I'll use them for deer with the extra weight would aid in added K.E. well they fish tailed all over and grouped all over the place. I put the expandable broad head on the 2114 and they grouped perfectly. Are the 2117 over spined for this set up? Easton charts show as ok but i was told the charts are on the stiff and heavy side for liability reasons Any help is appreciated thanks mike

Without checking Easton's chart I can't say for sure that the 2117's are overspined. However, I wouldn't get all concerned about bumping up the kinetic energy. If you're hunting deer you should have plenty with the 2114's. A couple more lb/ft of energy isn't going to mean a darn thing if the arrow doesn't hit where it should.

Sounds to me as though your 2114's are they way to go. They tune well and fly straight. You have confidence in them and that means more than foot pounds.

Now put the calculator away and have a good hunting season.

I shot the 14 and the 17 again and without a doubt the 14 are going hunting with me they are flying so good out of my bow I don’t want anything to go wrong if I see MR. Big this year thanks for the advice

Didn't sound like a spine issue anyways. More like contact. If it's heavier it would be putting more force on things causing you to have to do something to fix it. As B.G said now's not the time.:D
