severe string wear
 

A friend and I was shooting and noticed his string was fraying, so that ended our shoot. he ordered a new string we got it all put together and started tuning the bow and noticed his string is fraying again.
we started checking it and noticed the the string is aparently hitting the cable slide rod as that is exactly whear the fraying is at. it is an older bow and been used for many years without any problems.

any ideas on how to fix this issue?

1st welcome to the forum. This may seem obvious and you probably would have checked but is the cable rod offset? If so it may have turned and gotten in the way of the string. Can you post pics of the area in question? I'm a novice myself but there are guys here that can get you straighttned out if they can see the problem.

Good suggestion txrookie, that is exactly what I was thinking as well. That cable rod may have come loose and rotated in toward the string.
