RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
Holy crap! If it were me, at a bare minmum, I'd replace the cables and slide. That slide must have some NASTY burrs! Since the bow is only 6 mos old, the manufacturer should replace everything free of charge.

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
I got it from Hunters friend maybe i will contact them and see what they say.If its gonna take too long to get it back from the manufacturer id rather get ne cables installed and swallow the cost.

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
WHOA!!!!!! I have never seen that before!
![]() I have a Reflex Highlander and don't have problems with my cables or cable slide! OMG... I would get that bow serviced under warranty quick! Something is not right with the cable slide itself. Like monie said, there has to be burrs inside one of the cable slide areas! Man, I wouldn't even attempt to shoot that bow as it is... Can we say OUCH?!?! ![]() Good luck and I hope you get it service real quick!!! Butch A. |
RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
Yeah it looks like you have some strands busted on there. It looks like you are using a NAP Quicktune (?). I have some wear problems since I installed the NAP Quicktune. Nothing near as bad as what you are showing though. I use bowstring wax liberally around where the cables go into the cable slide. Has really slowed down the wearing.

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
I used wax constantly once isaw the first signs of wearand it still did that,Its a quicktune 4000 so i just cant replace the slide because of the steel cable so what i think its just the OEM cables are cheap.Well i spoke to hunters friend and since it would be considered normal wear and tear i need to replace the cables and strings on my own,so i guess ill be buying new cables and strings.

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
My cables are nearly two years old and don't look nearly that bad. I use a Quicktune 2000 on my Reflex Excursion, so the setup should be similar. That wear and tear is not normal, and Reflex should make it right, but probably won't.

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
I beleive its the cableslide thats causing the problem too, maybe ill can NAP and ask them if they ever had this problem.

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
If the cable slide did not come with the bow, then you need to contact the maufacturer of that slide. They should at least replace it, and hopefully your damaged cables caused by their slide.

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
I had the exact thing happen to me with my 06 Trykon and NAP Quicktune 2000 drop away. My wear was much worse and was only 4 months old before I had to replace everything. The shop that I took it to said the wear wasdue from the different angle on the cable slide that was furnished with the QT 2000 and that since then they have changed the cable slide. I decided to repair minea week before leaving the country on a bear hunt. The shop reccomended aTrophy Ridge Dropzone at the time, so I had them install one....what a big didsapointment, that thing is very noisy compared to the QT. I did go with a teflon cable slide and it has done a great job.I only had a few days to settle the new string and cables and rest before hunting buteverything worked at crunch time.
LOL here it is a month before the fall season and I have the same setup, I still cant stand the Trohpy Ridge but probably wont change it.[8D] |
RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
Im not changing my QT, i love that thing,im just happy that NAP is getting me a new cable slide and steel cable,i have a month to go before hunting starts here.Need to send the bow in to the shop for new cables.

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
Had the exact same problem with a QT 4000 on my UltraTec but I assumed that I nicked the cable section of the brand new string (single cam) with a broadhead. I put another new string on and this is now my backup bow but I'll be taking a closer look at it tonight. I did notice that my cables on my new Old Glory are more worn than expected but I also just beat the crap out of it hunting reindeer. (Belly crawling through the brush can be hard on strings and cables.) Thanks for the post!

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
Thanks KodiakArcher,BTW the representative from NAP said to make sure that the steel cable is not too tight and causing the slide to put too much presure on the cables.Look at Fig 9

RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
now i know with that slide, if your cables are supposed to cross above the slide, and they're crossed below the slide like in you picture - it will tear them up. thing is, i'm not sure on that particular bow if the cables are supposed to cross above or below the slide. does anyone else know?
i learned the lesson on a bow of mine. on the particular bowtech the cables were supposed to cross below. i installed and had them crossing above and it tore them right up. replaced the cables and flipped the slide around so i could cross below - voila, no more damage. |
RE: Cable slide damaging cables?
I have no clue,i got it set up alreay from the distibutor so i cant say for sure how they went, well gibblet i sent the bow for new strings and cables at a shop here in IL forest park.
