QAD Ultra rest. Make sure they tune your bow after it's been installed. Look it up and read about it first. I used to shoot the biscuit but lost speed. Nota issues with the QAD.

Trophy taker is pretty good...a lot of people swear by those. I am currently using a NAP 2000 RG on my Mathews. I like it a lot. Easy to setup and use. It even came with an instructional DVD...showing you exactly what to do to set it up...can't get any easier than that!!!

I like the NAP Smart Rest. I have one on my Trykon and one on my Tribute..Zero fletching contact

Here's a second vote for the NAP Smart Rest. I'm using the NAP QT4000 but I think I'll switch to the Smart Rest next time.

I'm using the Schaffer Mat-1 and really like it. Check out http://www.schafferarchery.com/productcatalog.aspxand note the Mat-1 fits Mathews, E-2 fits most bows including Bow Tech, Tec-1 fits Hoyt. It ran around $100. Ray

I had the Schaffer Tec-1 on my Trykon and thought it was a well made, good looking rest, but I couldn't tune it. Thats when I switched to the NAP Smart Rest

The two that i've stuck with so far is,the NAP SmartRest, a pretty good system, BUT I HATE the "THUMP" you get after the shot with the 'Vee armstricking the rubber arrow holder".
The other rest is the TR DZ, micro adjust. However this restgives 'me' a bit more time to tune. The locking system on the windage bar could do with some changes and the twosprings on the suspension rods should be a little longer.
They are so many D/A rest now to choose from. The Muzzy works well, but it's really a hulk of a rest (for me).

Rip Cord fall away rest! Adjustable, durable, simple to setup and it works a long time. List around $79.

I have been using the muzzy ever since it came on the market and love it. I have it on 2 bows and have never had one problem at all with them.

Put on a Muzzy Zero Effects and never look back. Best dropaway ive ever used. Heck, best reast period.

Whats up, just a year ago everyone was using the Drop Zone. Was their a problem with it? I never used one, but it seemed like the last few years it was all the rage.

Not that I care to use anything but my Zerro effects, just curious.

KodiakArcher 08-25-2006 01:35 PM

RE: A Good Drop-away

Some, not all, of the Drop Zones develope a "boink" from the springs or launcher arm loosening up. Otherwise they're a good rest but I think that for the money there are better rests out there now.

How are the drop aways on staying tuned? If I could Find one that would stay tuned shot after shot.I would really consider going with one.

I have never had an issue with my Vital Gear fall away. I have never had to adjust it... ever

If I were you I would get a Trophy-Taker. I got one in early August and it helped with my accuracy and I haven't had to ajust it yet. Its stayed rock solid.

There are quite a few good drop a way rests right now. the problem with most of them is they are to heavy, overally complicated or unproven.

Look as far as a:

TrophyTaker ........Lightweight.......Simple.......Reliable... ...Tough and probably the most proven drop a way out there!

Good Luck!

IMO
Whisker Bisket or NAP Quicktune 360.

2 reasons:
KISS method: KISS(Keep It Simple Stupid). While drop away rests are probably superior for target shooting; your post specifically suggests hunting. In a hunting situation, after 20 years of hunting, an arrow guarenteed not to come off my rest and "tink" any part of my bow is priceless. I've done it at least twice every year, and after having a bisket... It won't happen again.

No moving parts. This means no chance of failure in the field. I've seen the problems with drop aways. They involve moving parts. Anything that moves on a bow is prone to failure at some point IMO. IMO means In My Opinion. Once again, i like to hunt with the KISS methodolgy. Anything that has a higher chance of failure when a 140+ class buck steps in my sights is out of the question on my rig. You might see me shooting competition with a drop away, but never ever will you see me in the field with that rest.

One that has not been mentioned here is vaportrails limbdriver , This is an excelent fallaway rest . I dont recomend many as I have tryed all but the schafer mentioned allready on this thread and many of them suck! I usealy recomend the muzzy rest , and for very parelel limb bows the Trophy Taker , but thats changed , the limb driver I believe is of a better design than the Trophy Taker . They realy have something with this rest , Igot total fletch clearace easyly , It adjusts easyly , and offers good suport for the arrow during the first half of the draw and then falls away fast , they way that a fallaway should work . Many of the fallaway curently offered do not work as advertised , the limbdriver does , my opinion .

Ive been useing the WB for yrs on my Mathews LX.
Bought a SwitchbackXT and put the Ripcord on it,so far I like it.
And if I would change,I would put a WB on the XT too.
sold me the XT for 599 so the 79.99 didnt look so bad to try a differant arrow rest.

I use a Trophy ridge guide series drop away and love it to death!!

That particular rest cost me about $110 and they make the same drop away just not the guide series for as low as $80I think. The only difference is the guide series has micro adjustments on it as the others don't.

Very nice and well worth the $110 IMO

I use Vital Bow gear rests! Never had any problems what so ever! Light weight and made in the USA! The Kaz Away goes for under $120!
