Nock it off!

I'm reading that for target shooting, the knock should be just tight enough on the string that when you turn your bow so the arrow is facing down and give the string a sharp rap with a finger, the arrow should come undone. And that for hunting, it should be secured slightly tighter.

My arrows have nocks that are A LOT tighter. What is the properprocedure to alter the nock to make it a little less tight?

Youll notice the inner sides of the nock have a grove, what I like to do is take a small file or sandpaper and just file them or sand them down a bit till you get them where ya like em.

The best way is to have the center serving replaced with one of smaller diameter. If you don't have the knowledge or the tools then it should be done at your local shop. Usually doesn't cost but about $5 and will cure your problem. Serving material typically comes in sizes like.018", .021" and .025". Couple thousandths doesn't sound like much, but when doubles around the string a difference of .003" actually becomes almost .012", quite a difference.

You also can try different nocks. Some have a slightly larger throat than others. If you are using uni-nocks you could give the 3D version a try.

My advice? Get the serving job done.

nock fit is critical to accuracy , especialy when shooting fixed broadheads , the fit you origanaly describe seems to work best for me .
