Mathews Switchback XT TWANG!
I just purchased a new Switchback XT. I took it to the archery range this morning and found that my bow has a rather annoying TWANG after each shot. Also, the rubber stoppers above and below the cams are quite warn after only 300 shots. Here is my set-up:
Mathews Switchback XT - 29 in. draw, 58 lbs. Gold Tip Pro Hunter 5575 - 100 gr. tips Any suggestions? I have not been to my archery shop yet. I am planning on going Wednesday. Thanks. |

Mine has had a noise from the quiver. Check any add-on equipment you put on after the purchase.

RE: Mathews Switchback XT TWANG!
Equipment check is clean and tight. I took off my quiver thinking it might have been that. I just can't get over how much wear and tear on the rubber stoppers there is. Maybe it is too much forward movement after the shot?

RE: Mathews Switchback XT TWANG!
Not sure........I am guessing the cam is outta time though if you are wearing that badly on the suppressors.

RE: Mathews Switchback XT TWANG!
My guess is to check the ATA for proper distance. Also check the upper cam for any leaning at full draw. Cables might have stretched out causing the noise if the string is in good shape.
Good luck I had a a similar issue with my OutBack and replaced the strings and cables and it's back to like it was out of the box. I had a Baracudda set on it and replaced it with aProstrings setandyou feel the difference, much better. |

What rest are you using?

RE: Mathews Switchback XT TWANG!
If you check the Mathews forum, there used to be a lot of complaints about their string suppressors wearing out too quickly in the minds of the purchaser. That was some time ago (when I was shooting an XT), so Mathews may have changed the composition of the rubber or made a fix in some other manner; I'm not sure.
As far as the twang on your XT, I thought mine had an excessive twang as well. In a heads-up test against my Tribute, it was clearly louder. Only after I installed string leeches did I bring it back within range of the Trib. I was slightly disappointed in that I thought that was the purpose of the suppressors. Congratulations on the purchase of your new bow, though... It is an excellent piece of equipment, and I hope you enjoy it for a long time! |
RE: Mathews Switchback XT TWANG!
Just went through the same thing with my Legacy I was told if your suppressors are getting ate up it is because your string has streched. Replaced my string and cables and it went away. I was also told that my bow was still timed right the string just hadn't streched far enough to knock out the timing. Good luck.

RE: Mathews Switchback XT TWANG!
mdbuckhunter check outthis link. This guy builds a custom STS that reduces string travel. This might solve your problem.
