I just bought a matthews xt from my local dealer. My draw lenth is 27 and its draw weight is 60-70. The arrows he gave me are beeman ICS hunter 500s at 7.3gpi. My arrow lenth is 26in with an 85grain tip. I shoot my bow cranked down all the way and was wondering if this arrow setup isok for my bow? To me these arrows seem to be too lite. What are you guys opinions?

Well, I come up with about 300 grains of total arrow weight for you. So with your bow cranked all the way down to 60 pounds, that puts you right at the 5 gr./pound of pull. Plenty light, but with a quality broadhead, and good shot placement, you should be able to hunt most NA big game, as long as your arrows are flying true!

Are we talking about cranked down=60 or 70 LBS.?

that sounds like it is a little weak in spine... need more data... how is it shooting?

Yeah if your shooting 70 lbs you need the 400s

I totally agree that your not only underspined, your under 5 grains per pound...how's the bow sound?

Thats what i was thinking.The bow sounds and feelsgreat, buti think imgoing to lower the poundage to 60until i can get some 400s. Thank yall for the info.

Even at 60 pounds, you're still a bit shy of the IBO rule. Right now probably 275 + nick and fletching. To add some safety margin you might want to go to 100 grain tips.

I shoot about the same length and all and have found that a .500 spine is Ok up to about 63# with 75gr tips. You put heavier tips on them and you'll really be pushing the envelope. You would certainly be better served, I think, with a .400 spine. They'll be a little stiff on the lower end of the weight range, but would give you much more latitude if you want or need to crank the weight up around 65# or more.
