New nocks DO make a difference...
 

I know we have a lot of accomplished archers here, so this is prolly redundant to ya'll, but I've also noticed alot of new shooters here as well. This is just a little something I learned yesterday working at the shop.

My groups have suffered a little here lately, and I've been pretty diligent to find the answer. I asked my shop owner last night what he though, and he asked if I've tried new nocks? I hadn't given that any thought. Honestly, I just didn't think it would make that much difference. Long story short, it matters. New nocks, and she's drivin tacks again.

Moral of the story? If you've been shooting the same arrows alot, maybe try new nocks. It can make a big difference.

Thats very good to know.:) I guess with new nocks the arrows leave the string at the same point upon release.

Believe it or not, I've only done that once. ;)The other times you've accused me of that I've actually left the computer and went and done something productive, hard as that is to imagine! :D

I agree on the new nocks, or at the very least keeping some around. I found a few X-nocks that came with some Beman Black Max arrows were loose after a few shots and actually stayed on the string after the shot. Worried that it was the shafts, I bought some new X-nocks and found some of the nocks that came with the shafts were just not fitting as well as the new ones.

I've had a few do that as well, Coug. Always made me wonder how much kinetic energy I lost on that shot...

greg, i think if you take a scale and figure out how many pounds of tension it takes to pull your arrow off the string - you can subtract that amount of pounds from what you're shooting to figure your ke.

ijimmy's sig line about changing your nocks frequently is for real.

Good point... I don't think bowhunters every really take that into account. Sort of like horsepower at the crank is different than horsepower delivered to the wheel... Hmmm.

i really think mobow should be moade into a moderator, i know this is off subject but hes on here enough and knows what hes doing itd be a good addition in my opinion
