Lightest - rests, sights, quiver?
Not taking about junk.......what are your suggestion on the best lightweight assesories (rest - sight - quiver) to put on a lightweight new set-up? What should I check-out?
Thanks! |
RE: Lightest - rests, sights, quiver?
For a light-simple-high quality quiver look no-further than the Kwikee 3-Arrow. For rests I would recommend Trophy Taker. Simple, clean, reliable. For sights, I wouldn't worry about weight. They are all pretty comparible. I use a Vital Bow Gear sight as I like an adjustable single vertical pin sight, that is crazy bright!

Lone Wolf.....those 3 items you mentioned are all very light, and that might be what I go with. I really dont knowe what lighter than a short bar Trophy Taker. The quiver is probably a 3 arrow Kwickee or a similar Bohning. The sights if you want a adjustable, Vital Gear is less than 5.5 onces. If I went to a basic single pin Carolina Archery which is about 3 onces I could save alittle.

I too was thinking the Kwikee...
For sights, the Archer's Choice Grizzly seems pretty darn light. Three fiber-optic pins, but not much weight. Seems like an NAP Quicktune would be pretty light, no matter which series you went with. |
RE: Lightest - rests, sights, quiver?
You're not going to affect weight much unless you do something more drastic, like taking the quiver off(my choice). Also, shooting without a sight, will drop a noticable amount of weight. Lighter setups are more easily acheived by avoiding parallel limb bows - long risers are simply heavy. You can save anywhere from 1/2 to a full pound by switching back to a traditional style riser/limb configuration. They have more recoil, but shoot just as accurately as any other bow.
I'm one who has never enjoyed hunting with a heavy setup. This year I'll be spending some time in the field with a longbow and hip quiver. It weights something less than a pound. ;) |
