well i bought a hoyt striker 2 on ebay for 200 bucks any one every shoot this bow?how was it? quite? smooth? plzz let me know

One of my old hunting buddies has the original Striker (Stryker?)... I don't think his is the "2"...

Regardless, it's a heavy son-of-a-gun (I think the anodizing process may help account for this), but one of the smoothest and quietest bows I've ever shot beside... I think his has Command Cams on it.

I had the Striker II in '99. It was my top choice in bows at the time...At the time it was the first solid limb bow I had shot in a few years but I really enjoyed shooting it. I shot a pile of 3D competitions with it with fantastic results. You have a good bow there, now, was the bow setup with any accessories at that price?

I bought one for my dad last year, he's killed quite a few hogs with it. It is definitely a smooth and quiet bow. I think you'll enjoy it. Let us know how it works out.

What cams did it have?

I know two guys who had the twin cams (command cam?). They sounded like .22s going off. You couldn't pay me to hunt with one of those. I know another who had a single cam and it was okay in regards to noise level.

Couldn't have been JUST the command cams causing the noise; had to be some other factor, IMO.

Like I said, my buddy's with command cams was/is one of the quietest bows I've ever heard.

My Striker II had the Redline single cam, in fact this was my very first single cam bow coming from the '96 Defiant Command Cams, 97' Tenacity and '98 Tenacity II....

My bow was as quiet as they came in '99 and I shot many of the CC's with little to no noise. Many times it's the accessories that cause noise problems rather than the bows themselves so without having my hands on that particular bow either there was a problem with the bow or the accessories were the noise factor...NOT to mention if people tend to shoot their bows with an incorrect matched arrow, too light etc could cause noise, that's not necessarily the bow itself. The Command Cams were/are aggressive however and you need to match them with a good arrow.

True dat. My buddy was pushing a fairly heavy aluminum arrow out of his, though I'm not sure how many grains.

It was two different bows and I'm not sure why they were noisy. Both guys were shooting aluminums at over 500 grains. There was no quiver, no peep or any accessory that I thought would be the problem. I pretty good a getting a bow quiet, but I didn't try on theirs. I just looked them over and saw nothing obvious that would cause the noise. Both bows sounded identical, so I attributed it to the differences that particular cam caused. Maybe it was just coincidence.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the striker 2. I use to own the Striker with the redline cam and it was a good bow. It was very quiet and a shooter for sure. I really miss the back wall of the redline cam as it was very solid withoutthe feeling of slamming into a brick wall. I've regreted selling that bow on more than one occasion.
