wats is yalls opinion on spitfire broadheads

If I were going to shoot mechanicals, it would either be the Spitfire or the Eastman ST3. The ST3 isn't quite at durable but I've killed quite a few hogs. I think the Spits are good head and create some massive holes with good KE.

When I moved to Illinois a few years ago I was unable to shoot with the regularity I used to, so I opted for something that would compensate for my lack of practice.

I began shooting spitfires about 10 years ago, after having shot Thunderheads for years, and have used them on deer, and the blunt nose version on turkey. Until this year I shot a Proline Point Blank at 70lbs with Gold Tip 55/75's (28") and weight tubes giving me about 10.2 grains/inch with 100 grain spitfires - chronied at 265fps. I was punching thru on deer most all the time. I say most of the time cause I didn't pass thru on last years deer, but it was a sharp down angle shot and it only punched thru the underside - the deer still only went 50 yds.

I started using the XP ProSeries with the cutting head for a little extra punch last year, but overall I can't say definitively it made a difference. I do like the heads very much, great cutting diameter, and very durable. I've never had one come apart.I would recommend them highly, but I have not shot any others, so can't say they are necessarily any better then the other mechs.

I used the spitfires last year and won't use anything else now. Massive wound channel. Fly like a field point...

I have been using them forfive years and they work great for me. Big holes and they
fly the same as my field points.

They perform excellent!! I shot two deer with them and they both died within sight of my stand.I still prefer a muzzy 3 blade though. HCH

I use em on occasion. They always perform decent for me. But when I get a bad hit close to the shoulder, they won't pentrate like a thunderhead. But I guess I should be getting a bad hit.:D

ive used them along with the rocky snypers and had good luck with them...good luck

I have shot several Whitetails & 1 mule deer with spitfire's, I have also witnessed several shot from other hunters.They do create a great wound channel. I also believe they are as good as it gets for mechs, but I haven't had near the peneration with them. I shoot a 70# bow and most of my shots are close range, I just don't zip right thru em with spitfire's. On a broadside shot at a 180# buck last fall I hit him a little far back.....Liver.....I only burried it to the fletch, should have zipped right through him with that shot. You are trading a great flying head for peneration......Its really just your choice for deer, anything bigger than deer I believe should be left for cut on contact heads.
