Sighting In/Grouping
Guys, I've only been able to shoot my bow at 15 yards, thefield tips, and The RAGE BROADHEADS group and fly just fine, the Muzzy are flying fine also but are grouping roughly 1-1/2" to the right. If I shot the Muzzy's at say 40 yards how far off to the rightdo you think I maybe?
I'm Shooting a Mathews Switchback XT, Carbon Express 250 arrows, 100 grain heads, and yes I will be shooting at further distances next week |
RE: Sighting In/Grouping
With a fixed head htting to the right usually suggests an underspined arrow. It just won't show up as readily with field points or a mechanical head like the Rage. You don't say, but you need to list things like the weight of the bow and drawlength, length of the arrows and type of fletching, etc.
Another way of testing this is to just turn the weight of the bow down about one turn and see if the fixed heads group closer to your field points. Many guys do it, but don't get caught up in the idea that you MUST shoot the bow at a certain weight. Deer can't tell a five pound weight difference. Those limb bolts are one of the most overlooked tuning tool on a bow. Anyway, try out changing the weight and come back and give us that other info. Then come back and let us know what happens. |

RE: Sighting In/Grouping
ORIGINAL: lte_622 the standard mathews grip is also know too cause excessive torque ????????????? That's the first I've ever heard that. In fact, the grip is the one part of a Switchback that I really like. Besides, torque won't cause a consistent impact point to the right or left, it will be much more sporadic. An underspined arrow is certainly the cause here. Either drop to a lighter broadhead or turn the poundage down 1/2 turn on both limbs. Of course, you could always buy new arrows....;) Now, if you JUST don't wanna mess with all that, move your pin to the right and be done with it. Just remember, your arrow won't be as efficient and you'll hit to theleft when you put your field points back on. |
RE: Sighting In/Grouping
I moved my sight over slighly to the right and with the muzzy broadheads I'm shooting excellent now, also using the blazer vanes
