Mcphersen Edge

Anyone shoot one? I got a good offer for one and would like opinions. Hows it draw, hold, smoothless, hows the release?

Josh:

I have had an Edge that I got as a 2005 leftover for a few months. It was the bow that convinced me that it was OK to sell my Darton Tundra, which I really liked more than any bow I had previously. To answer your questions, the draw is very smooth. It is much like the Darton CPS Extreme bows, which do come up to peak fairly quick, but not abruptly. The letoff phase starts earlier than most bows today, and is very nice and smooth. It has a nice valley to it, which I like for hunting, but the wall is not rock solid like say a Bowtech or Mathews with the stops. The Edge is quieter and has less recoil than my Tundra had. While I still had the Tundra and the STS unit, I tried the STS on the Edge, and IMO, it just made the bow louder, kind of crack more. I usually don't shoot too well with shorter bows, but decided to try this one. The first 3D shoot I tried with the Edge, I shot my second best score ever, so I would say it is very shootable. I found it much more forgiving that a Mathews Q2 XL that I also tried this year, even though the specs suggest it should be a little more challenging to shoot well. The bow has more weight forward than I suspected it would have. It doesn't look like that much reflex, but it definitely has a tip forward balance. I've found that if I put my Enhancer 2000 in the rear mount of the Vib-X, and the S-coil in the front, it balances nicely, and they take vibration away to the point of giving the bow an "STS kind of feel." I also replaced the limb jax with Alpha Shox. I don't think the Edge is quite as fast as the Darton was, or my 2 Champions, but it is pretty close.
Hope that helps answer some of your questions. Resale value on them seems to be pretty poor, considering how nice a bow they are. Not sure why, but that is how it seems to go with the Pearson/McPherson line.

Head over to the Pearson website www.benpearson.com and hit the forum. A lot of good said about this bow.
