The guy at the pro shop was using PVC cleaner the other day. Worked great. Make sure you use cleaner not the purple primer. And this is for carbon. it will take the paint off aluminum.

Rubbing alcohol.

Denatured alcohol, also known as Methylated spirit (not to be confused with mineral spirits). Takes off the residue from wraps and also removes glues. It is a great all around solution and is cheap. You can get it at Wal-Mart or hardware stores in the paint thinner area.
