pipe clamps

Not knowing any better, when I found that 20 year old Golden Eagle at the pawn shop, I used a 5 foot pipe clamp from my woodshop to squeeze the ends together, relieving enough pressure to adjust the cams and get the bow set up to where I could shoot it. How bad an idea was this? After about 5 months, the bottom limb broke, about 4-5 inches from the tip, right where (I think its called the limb saver) is. Did I cause this by using the pipe clamp?

Drew !

definately a bad idea and "yes" there's a good chance it could have caused the damage ,but consider yourself lucky it didn't break when you used the pipe wrench on it .LOL
