tigerfan, I don't find this much different then hooking thousands of chickens to rotating cables which then dip them into electrified water. This is found perfectly acceptable
Hell not much more then a insect zapper for pests:D:D

RE: How do i kill a raccoon

Just playing devil's advocate but Tigerfan, do you really think your post is good to display to the world including anti's? Don't get me wrong but I'll wack any coon that is within killing range. I hate those buggers. Connibears and sardines is the best and most efficient. Broadheads are wonderfull as well.

Not to mention that his suggestion violates any number of game and animal cruelty laws .
For the sake of conversation I'll respond to this because I too see your point but, (theres always a but when you talk to someone from North LA haha) can anyone tell me how shooting an animal with a high powered rifle and a round that is made to expand to cause as much internal damage as possible is more humane than electricution? The point is that either way will cause instant death, one way you get eaten up by bugs and the other way you can watch bart and homer until the lights flicker and then unplug a cord. Sure you could use a trap, but not everyone has a trap. You could shoot them but, some people live in the suburbs and would go to jail for discharging a firearm inside the city limits. Most everyone has electricity now a days and for about $3 you can have your very own trial tested, proven coon killer.

What about shooting a coon with a stick and string that will not instantly kill him. What about stating that "Don't get me wrong but I'll wack any coon that is within killing range." Does this sound like a good display to the world including the anti's?

I have stated on this website that I do not hunt for the sake of taking a life. I do it mostly for the camradire that I was missing since getting out of the Marines. I haven't harvested a buck in 4 years (and I see several every year but, will only shoot mature bucks over 3 1/2) and only shoot as many deer as my family can eat in a year. Which is normally 3 or 4. I love to duck hunt and will go as much as time allows and I never shoot over the limit, never have, never will. If I see a coon while hunting, I will only shoot him if I know someone will clean him and eat him. If not he gets a free meal with my corn and I get a little entertainment. I am in no way stating that you don't feel the same way, or that I am right or wrong.

To everyone that got a little entertainment at my expense, I'll be here all week. haha I have worked on hog, chicken, and cattle farms and I can tell you from experience that if you have never done it, you would be amazed at what goes on. Right or wrong, it still happens.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

Tigerfan, point taken and there was no harm intended. As I stated I was merely playing devil's advocate. I appologize if I offened you. I could care less what was done (as long as there is no intended torture) or what was posted. Again I was only playing devil's advocate (I was not taking any actual position for or against anything in particular).

I completely understand and I am sorry if I sounded like I was offended. I can assure you that I was not in the least. Like I stated at the beginning of my post before, I was responding for conversation sake. I like to hear what people think and I love to play devils advocate alot as well. Thanks for your imput about what I posted.

Good Luck and Great Hunting

Hey Tigerfan, I love your "Acme Super Coon Extermination and Cook System". Have you patented it yet? Are you by any chance related to that world renowned inventor, Wile E. Coyote?

.22 short to the head if you know where they are. If not use a trap. Keep in mind these things are MEAN and tough. If you trap one live it will not be happy about it. You may have to shoot it while it is in the trap.

Honestly a spot light and a .22 short works great. My step dad used to hunt coon and he did pretty well that way with a head mounted spot light. He did use dogs though. If you live in a real populated area I would suggest a trap for safety and legal sake.

I would also check local game laws as well to see if there is a season and if you can legally shoot them out of season or if you need a small game permit to do it. Whether you want to follow them is your decision, but you should at least know.

May I ask why you want to kill them? You said you have been feeding them? Are they causing damage or attacking small pets? Or now that you have befriended them you have decided to start whacking them? If they are not doing any damage you might want to try and do it legally. If they are causing damage I say go for it regardless. However you shouldn't have been feeding them;). They are pretty much like little bears in that regard.

Have you patented it yet?
No it's not patented, Dad always said that it should be for all of the people to use.

i just got mine this mornin....what i found to work the best in sunflower seeds....dont know why but if you lay some sun flower seeds in front of the door then a small leaf inside on the pedal of the trap door they will be there every time..marshmellows also do well too...this is for backyard trappin in the woods is a whole new ball game...but you can do 1 of 2 things with a trapped coon....#1 shoot it in the ear with a 22. and trade in the pelt for a few $$$...or. if you dont want to kill it, VERY carefully grab the handle and tie a rope to it so u can get a good foot away from that cage cause they can reach. put it in the back of your truck and drive it far away. then tie a long length of cord onto the handle and give it a good yank and the trap will flip and let the door open....i choose #1 and im now about $10 richer....

BTW just look how cute the are till u get close and they try 2 rip your face off :D
