HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
ok heres my dilema. i bought my trykon in march brand new. i bought the 50 to 60 pound model for 2 reasons. one is i was impatient and it would have taken me like a month to get the other one in here. and 2 is i thought 60 lbs would be fine. ok heres the deal. i shot it on the chrono and it was at 225 fps. now i was shooting 350 edge arrows by carbon express so i switched to 250 maxims and now im at 265. there is only a 2 foot difference with the whisker biscuit so i left that on. what else can i do to speed this thing up. my draw is 28 inches plus a dloop. please help

RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
Your draw is what is hurting you the most. Not much you can do. I would be happy with 265.
|
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
yea i am happy with the speed i guess i know my draw is hurting me and there is really nothing i can do to make it longer cause any longer then that and im just not comfortable.
|
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
mine shoots right around 195 or less and it still gets the job done. of course im pulling 56 lbs and a draw of 27.5
|
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
265 fps on a 28" draw, 60# pull is actually pretty respectable. Not gonna get much better.
|
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
yea mine is set maxed out at 60. but i couldnt believe the speed difference i got out of going with a little lighter arrow. i guess i better just leave it alone. i was just hoping to get closer to 280. im going to try the blazer vanes and see what that does. thats the only other thing i can think about doing at this point

RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
How many grains per pound are you shooting?
|
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
my new arrows are the 250 maxims with 100 grain tips but i shoot the crimson talons and can only get them in 100 or 90 so i may try to go down to 90 and see if there is much difference there

RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
You and I have the same specs , 28"s and 60 lbs , 265 fps is a respectable speed , for ours specs .
Some things you can do to increase speed are reduce arrow weight remove rubber from peep [shoot a truepeep or none at all] use a quality string increase draw weight , 60 lbs is plenty IMO make sure your cams are timed properly |
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
I would be happy that as well. how much faster do you want? 265 will definitely get the job done!

RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
Other ideas:
Remove as much weight as possible from your string. Use either a tubeless peep OR a kisser button - but not both. Remove your string silencers and go to an STS. Remove your string loop and attach your release directly to the string. If your bow has an adjustable draw length you can also add a half inch draw length by removing the string loop and attaching to the string. Lighten up your arrows by using blazers,75 or 85 grain tips, and do not use wraps. Also, can you cut down your arrow length by going to an "overdraw" style rest? |
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
Which release are you shooting? I'd highly recomend the Carter Quickie if you think you can INCREASE your draw length by going to a shorter release. It's possible to pick up 10 fps with a one inch increase in draw length.

RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
You could get a gun[8D]I'd be happy with that, I don't even know how fast my bow shoots and to be honest I have never really cared, am I weird for that?

RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
im shooting a truball tornado release

RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
Be real !250 F.P.S. and up,always will pass through a deer.Or medium sized game.Wasp hammers with carbons, never failed me.8 deer killed andthe arrow hasn't stayed in once..So ,300 f.p.s. really won't do anything more in general!
|
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
ummm jarin where in this post was i saying that my arrow wouldnt go through a deer? i said i wanted speed. i am totally confident of passthroughs at 225 but i like my bow to be fast.

RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
quiet and 265 is real good!
|
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
yea i was freakin out when it was only going 225 but i am happy with what its at now and it is really quiet
|
RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
Im only getting 166! So dont freak out too much. But 510 grain arrows and only 26 inch draw will do that.

RE: HELP MY TRYKON IS SLOW
ok heres the update. at the beginning of the week i was shooting 225. after changing from a 350 to a 250 arrow, new string which i needed, blazer vanes, turning the bow to maxed 60 pounds i am at a respectfull 285 fps and i am happy now. thats about all i can do to it unless my arms would grow but at age 33 i dont see that happening
